I might be completely wrong, but I think the song is being sarcastic. I seriously don't know a lot about the culture (though I DO like the song), but with the constant Wake Ups it feels more like he's describing the first of the month as a good thing, but in such a way that it seems... so crappy. Wake up, do something for yourself, collecting welfare won't get you anywhere is what I feel this song tries to convey. My two cents. |
