These guys are so influenced by Morrissey and The Smiths Just take a look at the first line..."Sister, i'm not much a poet but a criminal" Am i right in thinking it is reference to "Sister I'm A Poet"-Morrissey ? And yeah, i do agree with this song being about the state of the mainstream music scene, aswell as this being a sort of homage to one of their musical influences because to be frank the music scene when they were growing up was very much as it is now. Boring, ordinary, meaningless lyrics and instrumentals time and time again and Morrissey and The Smiths were different. -They were controversial. Their lyrics went to places that no other artist dared to go. -They had a unique sound. Not one single artist in the music scene at that time sounded like them. -Their lyrics meant something, they talk about real-life situations and how people cope with them. Not to mention every single song kicked any band of todays ass. So, i'm not suprised if this is what "Thank You For The Venom" is about. Also in reference to the title. I think that also it could be saying thank you to their influences for giving them the ideas and thoughts, through their music to poison [i.e-venom] the plain music scene today. And boy did they do that. |

Most of the lines have multiple meanings or interpretations, especially these two.--->> "Saw a day when you've lost yourself completely"-- This person is finally realising that they have no or very little control over their life at this point. "So, a day when you've lost yourself completely ?"--The ever famous 'Tough Love' scenario, and an alternative narrator is questioning why this person is dwelling on the negatives of themselves. Also, "Right back. What is wrong ?"-- Sort of bouncing the question back on someone. As if they have just been asked what is wrong and the insist on the other person telling them what is wrong. "Write back what is wrong"--To be loosely interpreted, "Write me a letter, explain what is wrong." "Right,(i'm)back,what is wrong ?"--A person has been absent in someones life for some time, now that they have returned they are pushing to know what is wrong. Considering that the next line is "We move along", all three meanings fit, leaving the topic open even more. Whichever way you put it the song seems that it is a message to tell people that ; "Maybe things do get tough, but if we 'Move Along' it can't get any worse, you're already battling it anyway." |
