Easily my favorite instrumental of trents. The strings in it add so much character. Especially when he's just coming out of one of the heavier guitar/drum sections. It's soothing. If you're into puffing, get really baked, to the point where you just can't think anymore, turn your stereo volume all the way up, boost the bass and let trent blow you away :) |

| Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| If you look at the contect it was written for (soundtrack of Lost Highway), it very well could be about multiple personalities. David Lynch has publically said that Lost Highway was not meant to mean anything in particular. It's meant to be a vehicle for the audience to apply their own meaning. However the movie does have a deep underpinning of a man that develops a split personality. So it's very likely that theme would have been used by trent. That's what it means to me. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Leaving Hope Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is beautiful. The piano is some of the most touching I've heard come out of trent. It makes me feel like there's nothing more I can do, that it's just time to give up. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Just Like You Imagined Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| did someone ust compare trent to linkin park? WTF world have you been living in? trent is an amazing, talented virtuoso. Linkin Park is a fad, no one will know who the hell they are in a few years. Comparing them in any way to trent is like comparing shit to champagne... | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Even Deeper Lyrics | 20 years ago |

To me this song is about depression. It's the feeling of sliding back 2 feet for every foot you climb out of a pit. There are 2 lines that really hit home for me: "sometimes, I have everything yet I wish I felt something" "In a dream I'm a different me with a perfect you, we fit perfectly. For once in my life I feel complete- and I still want to ruin it." This, to me, is depression. No matter what you have, what you accomplish, who you are, it's never enough. There is a need that is unfulfilled, a need that will always run even deeper. Living with something like that makes you self-destructive. You work so hard to try to feel good that in the process you destroy the things that matter in your life, the things that should make you happy, slipping another 2 feet down the hole. |

| I think this song is about how depression can make you destroy the things you love. I liken the whole song to the line "For once in my life I feel complete, and I still want to ruin it". It's a sentiment I can relate too, something I've struggled with my whole life. I'm sure I'm internalizing it, but I guess that's the point. In a way, who cares what Trent was thinking when he wrote it, the beauty of songs like this is that we can all take what is important to us out of them. It's an incredibly beautiful song. | |
