| Backstreet Boys – Something That I Already Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The question mark word in the bridge is "numb" I think we've all had this. The relationship has been dragging along and it needs to end. |
| Backstreet Boys – Inconsolable Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For some reason the one version on the internet is shorter. Their website has the full song: (after 2nd chorus) I don't want to be like this I just wanna let you know That everything that I hold in Is everything I can let go CHORUS Don't you know it baby... (final verse) |
| 98 Degrees – Stay The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Bluntly, t's a really romantic way of him saying he wants sex | |
| Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
While he may have contemplated it, I don't think "breaking the habit" is referring to committing suicide. I'm agreeing with Rori the Rocker and Norsk's meaning (among other ppl). Verse 1- "Memories consume..." - Bad memories of his parent's fighting among other things. "You all assume I’m safe here in my room unless I try to start again" - using drugs in his room Verse 2- As Norsk said, it's referring to drug abuse. Prechorus/Bridge/Chorus- This is why I don't think it's about committing suicide. He come to grips that he is lost and starting tonight, he's "breaking the habit". |

| Richard Marx – Right Here Waiting Lyrics | 19 years ago |
http://www.richardmarx.com/flash.html His site has meanings for most of his songs in his discography. It was about him missing his wife Cynthia who was in South Africa ("oceans apart") when he wrote the song. |

| BBMak – She's Everything Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My favorite song by the group. Pretty powerful lyrics, good singing, and a nice blend of guitars (even if there's at least 3 guitars). It's unfortunate the band broke up since this song and After All Is Said And Done could've been decent singles. For those interested, Christian Burns formed a new band this year called Inhaler. Here's their MySpace page: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=22834467 Other than sort of recognizing his voice, you wouldn't see any resemblance between this project and BBMak. |

| Dishwalla – 40 Stories Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually I think he's singing about a friend that's struggling in life. "You say in life there's so much weight it drags you down". In the 2nd verse, he's singing about how his friend is blaming her problems on others. The prechorus seems to say she has two choices. Deal with it or end it (suicide). Then the chorus is saying life is unpredictable. Independent of the lyrics, it's a great start to this album. It kind of shows that Dishwalla's back and rockin'. In fact the first 5 tracks really flow together well. Unfortunately tho it seems that J.R.'s gone solo (he's got a myspace profile, www.myspace.com/vocaltrix) and the band's on a long hiatus. |
| Nick Lachey – What's Left Of Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Eerily sounds a lot like 'Incomplete' (which ripped of Jon Secada's 'Just Another Day'). | |
| Tonic – Take Me As I Am Lyrics | 20 years ago |
It's definitely about a father that wasn't a part of Emerson Hart's life. Compared to the rest of the album, it's a very well written song. I can see how you could twist it to make it a break up song but the first verse wouldn't make a lot of sense. Hart seems to have problems with his parents. "If You Could Only See" is about when his mother abandoned him when he got married. |
| Train – Get To Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think the song's all around good as long as you realize Train's lyrics are a little more abstract compared to similar artists and bands. "I look around at what I got And without you, it ain't a lot But I got every, with you, everything" Definitely the best lines in the song. |
| Saliva – Bleed For Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this song was one of the only good things about Daredevil. And the lyrics are right. There's definitely a "t" sound in "get to be with me", not "dare". And "stuck out of line" makes sense. |
| 3 Doors Down – Let Me Go Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Im agreeing with the interpreation about a guy masquerading as someone else to a girl. While I can't say I've been in a relationship with that situation, but the bridge really puts that nervous feeling in your gut. "And no matter how hard I try I can't escape these things inside I know, I know And all the pieces fall apart And you will be the only one who knows, who knows" I can't agree with how the music video has much to do with the song. The video seems to be about a lost love. |
| Backstreet Boys – Siberia Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"'Cause it's all so dark and mysterious When the one you want doesn't want you too" That part really gets ya. It's a good breakup song. |
| Soul Decision – Faded Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Don't forget about the "Faded" part. I'm assuming you're a little buzzed or high. Helps overcome shyness a little ;-) | |
| Lifehouse – Only One Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Jason Wade: "I wrote "Only One" right after someone in my life did something I felt was totally wrong. It was a really tough time for me. I have these trails in my life, like my dad leaving and my not being with him anymore, and then this man, who I really looked up to, failing. "Only One" is about how sometimes people are just not there for you and you have to look somewhere else for guidance." http://www.lifehousefans.com/lyrics/interpretations.html It's interesting how none of Jason Wade's interpretations relate to god or religion. But I think their newest CD has finally shed them of that image. |
| Ace of Base – Cruel Summer Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think it's the only song I can still bear to listen to by them now. What was that from VH1's "I Love the 90's"? "The Sign was that we're only going to be popular for another 5 minutes" lol |
| Aqua – Turn Back Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Ughh silverdove is right. I thought it was a pleasant, soft song but it definitely isn't. "If only I could turn back time, I would stay for the night". The "cross to wear" may be a reference to how it was a punishment for committing adultery back in the 1600's. At least that's what happened in "The Scarlett Letter". So yea there is some really dark stuff in this song. |
| Josh Kelley – Only You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
More or less a more relaxed version of "Amazing". The prechorus otherwise explains the whole song: Cause you started it You seem into it Don't you dare act surprised |
| Josh Kelley – Love Is Breaking My Heart Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The guy wants to be the one for someone he right now only hooks up with. | |
| Darren Hayes – Spin Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It's a pretty catchy song. Didn't realize Switchfoot lyrics could be mixed with circa '97 dance music lol. | |
| Dishwalla – Above The Wreckage Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| A close friend of J.R.'s died after her engagement party in a car accident | |
| Vertical Horizon – Wash Away Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oh man no comment for arguably VH's best song ever. I think it's pretty obvious what the songs about. Typically Keith Kane writes some of the more cynical stuff. | |
| Blessid Union of Souls – Hey Leonardo (she Likes Me For Me) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The song and the music video are so corny but it's one of the catchiest songs out there. But for a group known for doing very serious songs it's nice to see something fresh. | |
| Dishwalla – Find Your Way Back Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| If only they would ever release this on a CD. I really don't feel like buying the Amercian Pie album. | |
| Dishwalla – Pop Guru Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| hmm too bad the lyrics here are way off | |
| Dishwalla – So Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The bridge sort of screws up the meaning but I think it's someone like an ex girlfriend that doesn't want you to move onto someone else. | |
| Dishwalla – Until I Wake Up Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think it might actually be where you someone special passed on and you're dreaming about him/her ("vivid vision see her shape"). The song on "Above the Wreckage" from the newest album was about a close friend that died in a car accident. I think the song can be interpreted in many different ways since the lyrics are describing an emotion more than a scenario or story. But I think what I mentioned above seems to make the most sense. Of course I'm also writing this 3 years after the last comment. |
| Sister Hazel – Change Your Mind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Yea I completely forgot about Sister Hazel until I heard this song at the end of Bedazzled. I think the lyrics ccfan12 reposted describes the entire song. | |
| Third Eye Blind – Crystal Baller Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I like it because it's the only song on the album that reminds me of the classic 3EB that we know and love. | |
| Darren Hayes – So Beautiful Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I hope putting it on the Savage Garden greatest hits album will help Darren Hayes recover. I think Spin tried to prove he could go on without Savage Garden and he tried a little too hard. So Beautiful and Tension in the Spark have put him back on track. |
| Darren Hayes – Heart Attack Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I'm a big Savage Garden and Darren Hayes fan but I think this song falls in the "it's so bad it's good" category. While Insatiable really hits the pop/R&B sound Heart Attack just falls flat. I think ultimately the album Spin shows that Daniel Jones is missed. |
| Vertical Horizon – I'm Still Here Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yea the 2nd and 3rd verse really grab you. Now they need to put a new CD out. "Better When You're Not There" can't tide me over much longer. |
| Vertical Horizon – Inside Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Probably my favorite song on "Go" though that isn't too difficult. Matt Scanell did denounce the sexual intepretation that could be made. | |
| Vertical Horizon – On the Sea Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yea it really is a beautiful song. Both versions are good but the one from Live Stages really grabs you. Can't say they're lyrics I can relate to. My take on it is the guy is walking on the beach remembering a deceased spouse or bf/gf. You could really stretch it as someone long lost and far away as opposed to deceased. |
| Vertical Horizon – Shackled Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Apparently the song was written in reference to Keith Kane breaking up with his girlfriend. And it must not have been going very well. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Has a certain edge the other songs don't quite have. Too bad there aren't any songs with him at lead on "Go". |
| Lifehouse – Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yea I agree how it's probably about his father. He has spoken about his father more or less walked out on him. "Only One" from the first album was also written about his father. (Wade's interpretations of the songs from the 1st album) http://www.lifehousefans.com/lyrics/interpretations.html |
| Backstreet Boys – Just Want You to Know Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think the music video was just to show they could do something out of the box. As opposed to the synchronized dancing and/or the 'standing around in a desolate place singing' that they've been doing for a decade. | |
| Backstreet Boys – Never Gone Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Wow I like the song even more knowing thats why it was written. | |
| Train – Ordinary Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Not a whole lot of explaining to do. This along with New Sensation are probably my favorite songs by Train. It's too bad they aren't going in this direction on the album coming up. At least their first single doesn't indicate that. |
| Lifehouse – We'll Never Know Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song continues the trend of musically dramatic Track 9's (Breathing, Take Me Away) for Lifehouse. I think it's just an earnest way to ask if they can be together. The verses definitely feel like filler. |
| Tonic – If You Could Only See Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Well Emerson Hart in an interview said that it's a real life story of him when he wanted to get married. His mother literally disowned him for it. | |
| Dishwalla – Counting Blue Cars Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think they could've chosen "her" just because it flowed a lot better vocally than "him". I read a few interviews by them about the song and they didn't seem to think of the lyrics as anything terribly special. They definitely did not anticipate the song to ever become popular. So I think it's just some kids including the singer walking around the city curious about how the world works. There are some holes in that being the meaning but I think some of the darker parts of the lyrics are just thrown in for effect. But then again when did Dishwalla lyrics ever quite make sense? |
| Howie Day – She Says Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Part of Allmusic.com's review of "Stop..." Rated 4 out of 5 "In his songs of relationships and loneliness, Day was too often the spurned boyfriend rewriting Radiohead and Badly Drawn Boy songs to air his grievances down at the local open-mic night." (comparing the improvement from Australia to Stop...) The purpose of the quote is the possibility that there may not be any definite explanation to the lyrics. It seems like all the scenarios are contradicted by some part of the lyrics. I initially thought it was the singer's friend interested in his ex, but I think the above quote gives the best explanation. |
