i was given a tape with twenty songs on it that i had never heard before. i was supposed to guess who was singing. mockingbird was one of the songs. i do not listen to rap nor had i ever heard a song by eminem before. i thought the song was excellent and i guessed it was eminem simply because i had heard he was top dog in the rap world and figured there was a good reason why . i'm in my early fifties and hendrix is the man. (for me that is) |

I have always had a major problem with poetry. I can never figure out what it's trying to say. Song lyrics are just about as bad. The song writers make it worse by not giving clear answers when asked. This seems to be universal and it goes clear back to the era of Beethoven. Except for a brief period in the late 1800's artists just do not want to pin down what they tried to say. This really pisses me off sometimes but i expect it will never change and i have accepted that. So will someone give this a shot? This was the last thing Jimi wrote and he did not get a chance to set it to music.
Did he really think Jesus was married or is it a metaphor (i hope thats the right use of the word)? |

The live version of this song done in 1970 at Berkeley has to be the best live guitar piece done by anyone anywhere. (originally on the Rainbow Bridge album, currently on the "Blues" cd and "Voodoo Child" double cd) Only "Machine Gun" on the "Band of Gypsys" cd equals it. Too bad the cameras messed up during filming and there is only a partial visual of the performance. Hendrix is the Man, the only Man. |

| U2 – Where The Streets Have No Name Lyrics

Many years ago i was watching a U2 video while this song played and if i remember one of the street signs had Martin Luther King on it. Has any one considered that if there is no need for martyrs the streets would not be named after them? Kind of like " Imagine" by John Lennon. Just a thought. |
