I like the song... but honestly what is up with the 9 things shes trying to claim as 7? It really irritates me. You're vain (1) your games (2) you're insecure (3) You love me (4) you like her (5) You make me laugh (6) you make me cry (7) I don't know which side to buy Your friends, they're jerks (8) When you act like them Just know it hurts I wanna be with the one I know And the seventh thing I hate the most that you do You make me love you (9) Someone on the first page said that "Your friends, they're jerks" isnt actually a "thing" but it sure sounds like it is... or perhaps should be! And "You love me, you like her" if its not meant to be two seperate things why doesnt it join, like have a "but" in the middle... And the 7 things she likes, seems to actually be 8! Maybe im looking too much into it, but im thinking it should be called 9 things instead of 7... |

Lol when I was little I always thought it was fried egg roll or something :P I love this song. I think its about someone leaving behind all the things that never really mattered that much and just living for what he cares about. He doesnt care for love, telephones foreign cars or danneman cigars anymore. He just wants his cheap wine, 3 day growth and just to sit about doing what he enjoys. Guess thats pretty obvious but its an awesome song |

I first heard this song when I was very young, I thought the lyrics were just beautiful. Now that im older, I must admit that it does suggest drugs or something of the sort. Infact, reading over the lyrics, im almost postive. Alot of the words symbolise drugs. However it would make me happier if it was just innocent words thrown together :) Either way, this is a beautiful song! I love it, its just one of those songs I will never forget. |

Aw this song is SOOOOO sad =( It reminds me of this guy I was with (only just recently) and for only a short while but who touched my heart and soul in ways ive never been touched before. And I had two long term bfs before this guy but there was something just so different about him... In the short time we knew each other he first fell for me, so hard...and I backed off because I wasnt ready...and then the tables were quickly turned and I found myself falling for him...like a tonne of bricks. We shared things together that I know ill never experience with anyone else. Unfortunelty I love this song but it reminds me of him so its often hard to listen to. I wish I could tell him these lines: "And as you move on Remember me Remember us and all we used to be" I dont think ill ever ever forget him, im sorry that it had to end so abruptly. On a funny side, at work yesterday I was serving two guys, about 17 years of age and they had the James Blunt album to buy. They were claiming that it was for one of their mothers for Mothers Day this Sunday. I just smiled and nodded, amused that they so strongly felt the need to express that to me. As I said goodbye and handed him his bag he called out over his shoulder, "Goodbye my lover!!" and gave me a wink. It made me smile for the rest of the day =:-) |

haha wow I thought I was the only one who sung to this as a kid with not a care in the world (I dont know WHAT I actually thought it was about back then but ah well).... years later I heard the song again and was like, waaaaaaaitttt a second.... =P I have never done Meth but I can imagine that these words would be a good description to how it feels to be on it. But can anyone tell me, what they mean exactly by \"Semi-charmed life\" ? Is there a hidden meaning? |

Hmm well pretty much the way i see it, is the first verse is describing the things the guy sees and does, the things that go on "in the valley tonight". The next part explains that his girl is so good pure and right, nothing that he is. He spends his nites with her after whatever it is he does to be "damned". But then "like a bat out of hell" he is out of there in the morning, again, after the day is done and the sun goes down he comes crawling on back to her. I think he needs to escape from things (i see him as a bad boy who would need to run from trouble he causes) which is why he fleets from her but on his way out of there he remembers her and makes his way back there again. He realises that if he's gotta be damned then he wants to be damned with her, dancing through the night together. Well thats just the way I see it, im probably WAY off track but when I sing along to it all those thoughts come to my mind. This is an amazing song, one of the greatest of all time. |

Omg some people are so irritating! Who CARES if it was aired on The OC and if people first heard it on there?! All that matters is that this song is awesome and they deserve all the fans they get! Yes some credit should go to the original group who wrote it and released it but geezus, if so many of you are "sick" from the fact that its "Ryan and Marissas song" then perhaps you should stop watching The OC? You seem to know an awful lot about it for people who claim to hate it... |

I think it means that everyone should try to feel the love for one another and if this happens then life could just be "so sweet" with no worries, faded dreams or broken hearts. I totally love this song, its got such a great beat and gives me a real good feeling :) It actually reminds me of a lion running through the Sahara or jungle, just the music lol. |

Wow you guys all summed it up so well, I have nothing left to add!! I guess to me this song is about the passing of youth, innocence, being young and the best times of your life. I agree strongly with what M3 said, that this guy will still love the girl after "the boys of summer" have gone, ie: after she has had fun all summer with the boys she has met. This song is one of the best there is. I can relate to it so well and its the perfect song to listen to while cruising around with sunnies on in Summer :) It makes me sad too, cos I love Summer and when its gone I feel crushed and miss it, miss the things I did, the people I met "Dont look back, you can never look back" |
