Coldplay – Warning Sign Lyrics 18 years ago
i cant believe no one has mentioned this song in The First Kiss. i heard it in the movie for the first time and i have pretty much been addicted to it since. i think its one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard, mostly in its simplicity. it has a certain lyricism to it that few songs have. it fits perfectly in the last scene of the movie too. if you havent seen it in that context itll completely change what the song means to you.

Bright Eyes – Take It Easy (Love Nothing) Lyrics 19 years ago
i took this song in such a literal way. i think you guys are all probably right but since its so upbeat and happy i took it more jokingly i guess? like simpler and more straight forward.

the first verse is kind of like when youre young and you start experiementing with teh opposite sex. hands, mouth.. type thing. and then the girl like goes faster.. kind of liek sic transit gloria and hes not really ready. but he goes along with it
but its bad? i always took that verse with her note to mean it wa slike really quick sex. or he couldnt.. make it work.. and shes more experienced and so disappointed and is just like "once its died you cant make it live" to me that means like.. sexual parts? once its over.. he had his chance and he blew it.
so hes in bed and wrapped in sheets cuz hes so embarassed and is trying to hide cuz hes humiliated
and then the rest i agree.. like he just does what she did to him. left him vulnerable and alone.

"when the plane came in he said she was crashing.."
ive always thought thats like the band travelling and the plane is landing, but they havent been able to take a bump or hit or whatever cause theyve been in the air, so theyre coming down,.
"in the city we tripped on the urge to feel alive"
thats just tripping on drugs.. doing speed and shit to get more out of the city, to feel more alive..
the rest is just about sex. simple enough.
on meth you can have crazy sex for like hours and hours and hours. all the time. thats why this song ties in so nicely.

The Higher – Rock My Body Lyrics 20 years ago
how are there so few comments? this song is excellent.
'Go, you move we go, now don’t go,
You move we don’t, now go,
Now don’t you move, we won’t go, now don’t go, go'
i love how he says that. its pretty much senseless.. but its fun to sing along to.
i love the line 'no one should have to take a fall for it, when its our life to live'
thats exactly how i feel.

Copeland – Brightest Lyrics 20 years ago
i saw copeland live this summer. and i had this huge crush on this beautiful guy that i knew i culd never have. and he was at the concert, and this amazing little venue and i was right at the front with my friends, singing and crying my eyes out when they played it.. and i scanned everyoen around me.. and i saw him singing. it was one of the best moments of my life. nothing ever happened with him but this song is just sad and cute and lovely. i stole the main guy in the bands waterbottle. and drank it. that makes me disgusting. but that is how much i love copleland.

Brand New – Jaws Theme Swimming Lyrics 20 years ago
to me this song is about drug use.. but to me most things are. the first verse talks about a film in her eyes, one of the first but the weakest references. all drugs, from weed to chemicals affect your eyes. then he says "some rules are made with all itnentions to break and she defends it with a warped rationale" for those who have done drugs eexcessively, its almost a constant battle to defend it to those around you as well as yourself. mainly because its illegal (breaking rules) and because you know that its hurting you, but for some reason you continue to do it. then the chorus, as we get older were supposed to outgrow things, but the girl he is singing about is just sinking farther into it and its hurting him and those around her, as well as herself. next.. smoke beneath the playground lights. smokign weed, smoking crack maybe? maybe? ok thats pushing it. but smoking. sucking on your breath mint.. trying to hide it.. dissected and stuck with pins.. all cut up inside..and stuck with pins.. to me thats always been heroin, or injection of some sort. the next part implies differences of views (concrete and water) bewteen her and her mother, but at this point the differences dont seem to matter. maybe tehy got in a fight. but the mother realizes that its gotten to a very far point, that her daughter is in alot of danger and that she doesnt care about what was said, that she just needs to find/help her. the whole painting/window/cutting on the edge thing is just the girl realizing that she did all these things for the wrong reasons (to escape, because peopel told her to, because she stopped caring about what her parents said) and that it wasnt worth it.. becaue she cant escape the addiction. and it ends in her suicide.

Bright Eyes – Gold Mine Gutted Lyrics 20 years ago
i relate really personally to this song. i wont even begin to debate conors drug use, but this song depicts the life of someone caught up in a world that they may not be ready to handle very well. like fallnislikethis said, the line "and the smoke came out our mouth's on all those hooded sweatshirt walks, we were a stroke of luck. we were a goldmine and they gutted us." really stands out for me. it reminds me of getting into something unintentionally, forming an addiction without realizing. they always say that denial is the first sign of addiction, and just today i was debating it. i indulge in chemical drugs like cocaine on a daily basis, but most of the time i dont think of myself as an addict. i think that i could stop if i want to, but i dont want to. call me naive, but its true. only when i listen to songs like this one does it really hit me (along with down in a rabbit hole). the point is, that for me i had it all. great friends and i was so happy before i did drugs, and then something happens, something life changing that makes you start, and you start to feel like you need it to be worth anything. the world that drugs rule, it engulfs you, drug dealers and the crowd and people who make their livings taking advantage of the weak leave you convinced that you have nothing left, to them you're a goldmine, and that world guts you.
thats completely what that line means to me personally. and it may be reaching to far.
i love this song.
