| James Blunt – Goodbye My Lover Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I absolutely love this song. It is so sad and so beautiful. With every word I was captured by it. James Blunt is a poet!! The Meaning to Me: I don't think anyone dies. I think the song's about a guy who in every relationship he has been in has never really been in love. I think he just used the women and when things ended he didn't give it a second thought... until he meets this girl who is completely taken by him and who he at first treats like all his other relationships "Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won. So I took what's mine by eternal right. Took your soul out into the night." But as the relationship went on he fell in love with her, felt like he had never felt before:You touched my heart you touched my soul. You changed my life and all my goals. And love is blind and that I knew when, My heart was blinded by you. But by the time he realizes this the relationship is over. And he wonder if he should feel guilty or not. He talks about how he thinks about her all the time:"You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take. She consumes his dreams. He is sadden because he realizes that his chances are looking so good for him and her so he finally tries to accept that: "And as you move on, remember me, Remember us and all we used to be" He then finally says farewell to the relationship, but not to the memories it created:Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me. This is just my own interpretation. |
