ok well i dont think its a metaphor and im pretty sure he loved her too. to me it seems like she was kinda a drifter free spirit or w/e and he wanted to settle down but she couldnt or didnt want to but it made her sad bc she loved him so much and she wished things didnt have to be like that |

ok i think that the 1st one or 2 stanzas are about how we (society or most people or w/e) are disillusioned with glitter and gold and material wealth and this guy whoever the song is about goes on a walk and is thinking about nature and the true meaning of things and the piper is god or w/e supreme being and he leads us to the truth the part about the bustle in your hedgerow is like that there are signs and things in our own minds and what we see that lead us to the truth if we want to pay attention to them. WHen it gets to the end part where "we are all one and one is all" that is like the person finally realizing how everything is connected. |
