This song is incredible. Last year I was out travelling through western europe on my own for a month, and Amsterdam was were I was the last week before going back home. About two weeks before I went there I had been in Barcelona and had met this girl from Amsterdam, and our last night in Barcelona we had gone for a stroll around town. Barcelona by night, a clear starlit sky above us, it was just beautiful. We had ended up sitting on some stairs in front of the cathedral la Sagrada Familia, and just sat there talking for a long while, shared thoughts and cigarettes. After a while though she had to go back to her apartment, and before we parted ways we agreed to meet up when I came to Amsterdam. Well, when finally there she had the busiest week at work and she never got the time to meet up and I just ended up getting way too stoned every night, hanging out in the hostel bar... so yeah, this song really touched me listening to it there, and still does.. "Another lonely night in Amersterdam The stars are coming out in waves And I miss my Miss America from Park Hotel But I'm too stoned to call it a day ... I think the lyrics are about a boy who meets this girl travelling the world in search of herself. the boy falls in love with the girl even tho they have only known each other for a brief time, but she's leaving for some other place cause that's what she does, breaking his heart.. "cuts on paper hearts they can be awful deep" "she said she'll run until her feet dont touch the ground..." she tells him she needs to keep travelling in order to be happy, she'll keep travelling until she finds her freedom. the first verse is about how they meet and how she tells him about how her dad was travelling a lot when she was younger, that he wasnt home much but always brought presents and spoiled her with material things. with her room with posters of rock stars, longing for something else, somewhere else... "And still she finds that every time she runs She leaves behind another piece of her On every city street" is about how she notices that wherever she goes she meets people that will miss her when she keeps moving, but she cant feel happy living in the same place.. like the boy, the "I" in the song. how he lies wide awake at night thinking of her, like a ghost in his mind, and how he realizes that for him to be happy he too will need to get out of there, move somewhere, keep travelling like the girl did. thus the change in the chorus to "so I will run..." I don't know maybe I'm reading too much into the lyrics.. =P tho I can totally relate to that feeling that I need to get out of here and move somewhere keep travelling... how, metaphorically speaking, I need to run, "until my feet don't touch the ground, as the waves carry me out" after graduating high school I spent a summer being almost constantly drunk and or stoned, and a few months into it just felt: "I need to get out of this dump" so went round europe by train on my own for a month, and when I came back the same feeling came back after a few weeks... anywho, that's what I get out of the lyrics... =P laters |

I agree with Jusa, and Blaizer etc. I usually mosh at shows, and when I write "mosh" it's all depending on the context. if it's a hardcore show, usually a bit rougher, if it's ska:ish more of skanking, punk rock usually just bumping around fast =P and any mixes of those equals mixes of the ways to have fun in a pit =P and yeah, I think this song goes out to the people that -just- aim to hurt. tho when at a show, if you dont like to get bumped into, stay away from the pit. go hang in the bar or right by the stage, not by the pit. I cant stand the people who get mad when someone (like me =P ) gets pushed into them.. |

To be honest, none of you guys are right. I might not be right but here's what I think: Say anything got their name from the movie Say Anything... from 1989. the part "Take this pen to paper." is from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no3otN2J3xo a scene where the main character Lloyd is dumped by Diane, giving him a pen and telling him "will you just take this pen please and write me?" the part "Oh Lordy" I think that it should be "Oh Lloydy" but I might be wrong the part "In a stink ther with 4 total strangers" is referring to the scene where Lloyd talks to 4 guys and a little kid that soon takes off asking them for advice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ylgd2ef4xg in the end of the first clip & at the beginning of the second one he is driving around in his car "on the road missing someone" =P the "I want my baby back" over and over again can refer, tho not necessarily, to how obsessed Lloyd becomes to get her back, which he does: "And I got you back."
