Teddy Geiger – Clouds and Stars Lyrics 17 years ago
Or like he said in 'Better Off Alone', perhaps he's 'just the kid who's better off alone'. Not meant to be with anyone. Poor kid.

oooh. That's way harsh for the Jobros. I like it. Especially the 'get some class' line.

Band of Horses – Islands on the Coast Lyrics 17 years ago
I read somewhere that someone thought the line might be "When eyelids want to close (They'll know how...)" I know this has nothing to do with "Islands on the coast" but now whenever I listen to the song that's what I hear. This probably has something to do with how that line would relate to the (going) home theme I percieved in the song. Yeah, I have no idea. Great song though.

Wild Sweet Orange – Im Coming Home Lyrics 17 years ago
This song makes me want to fall in love.

Perhaps it's a father/daughter thing, but I'm a sucker for long lost lovers.

Fall Out Boy – Thriller Lyrics 19 years ago
well boltsy, looks like someone's a wee bit jealous over there. It's ok, we all think we should be rock stars deep down. Lemmie ask you this, maybe it's the interpreter that thinks like the 12 year old girl, because that's all you can get out of this song.

Anywho...
when i first heard this song i heard "we're a recovery story" but now that i've listened to it like 5000 times, i def hear "cover story".

When i first thought about the chorus, it reminded me of "crashing cars". It's like all those kids who just crash their hearts into trees, which is basically a large part of their fanbase. It's like a shout out to them. "yeah, this album is for you. thank's for thinking we're awesome or whatever".

"fix me in 45" i think is def related it to the length of the album, i really don't know much about therepy sessions. but now with that knowledge i think that maybe they were trying to relate what somepeople do with their fav albums to therepy sessions. HEy, when i'm feeling down i just pick up one of my handy dandy FOB albums and go for a little therepy on the couch.

When you think about it, songwriters are the modern-day poets.

And maybe it's poking a little (just a little) fun at those silly 'hardcore' emo kids that listen to music they hardly understand and cry all the time.

Fall Out Boy – Golden Lyrics 19 years ago
First of all, I love this song.

I think it's a really powerful reflection on who they are, where they are at, and how they've gotten to that place.

The way that the golden metaphor is carried throughout the song is amazing. I just wanted to add a little insight into that line "and I saw God cry in the reflections of my enemies". It's like the word "reflections" has a dual meaning, it not only continues the golden theme because it's like god is watching and crying behind the speaker (although he can only see it though the reflection on their golden-platedness) but the reflections also are the opinions of his enemies. Like what they thought about fall out boy and their music and maybe they (FOB) believed some of the negative things that were said about them.

I def agree with whoever said that the line " And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me " is about how it's really hard to stand up in the spotlight of fame. All those kids look up to these guys for inspiration (even when their mother's don't approve) and they are hardly more than kids themselves.

It's about the pain of not knowing how to escape or deal with the fact that everyone is watching and either hates you or wants to be you, and even though you know that you aren't a bad person, you know you're maybe not the best role-model, but you must keep up appearances anyways (carrying karats).

I think that it's really interesting how they give a negative connotation to gold. It really enhances the perspective of this song. Fall Out Boy def did good with this one.
