Hinder – Better Than Me Lyrics 19 years ago
I can definitely see the b/f & g/f relationship in this song, but if I expand my horizons, thinks outside my box, I can see a mother/daughter relationship in this song. The love and cherished feelings that connect a young daughter and mother is powerful. Then, as the daughter struggles through tough teen years, (or the mother through tough adult years!) they still have their precious moments (I remember giggling and being silly in a change room with my mom when I was a young adult.) Life goes on and sometimes we make mistakes, choose the wrong words in fights that leave feelings that seem unreconcilable. It could be from the mother's perspective or the daughters. Lots of stories, there.

No need to apologize for ignorance! You don't fear asking questions and that is admirable.

This song makes me think of wanting our parents to believe in us and accept us simply for being ourselves. Freedom to figure out ourselves: our preferances, beliefs, anything! "Coming out," could be sexual, political, religious, anything that our parents don't want to accept about us because it goes against what they believe. That crazy-strong desire that a child has to want his parent's acceptance and unconditional love.

"I'll give you five fingers for a one man show." Any suggestions on what this means? (I can guess it's about masterbation, but I'll not convince.)
