i'm sorry. you guys are making me laugh too much. first off, some of you seem somewhat young. which is not a big deal. but in the deluxe edition booklet "it's not our job to MAKE anyone believe." i sort of think the emphasis is shifted a bit. that's the beauty of music. that's the beauty of words, literature, BOOKS. they're all interpreted to the reader's intent. seems to me that religion is kinda being played down in the song. "what about god? for you and for me. all have fallen short." just depends on your influence. i'm agnostic myself. if there is a god i don't agree with how he's portrayed in churches. "here's my hand, not words said desparately." i think could be a reference to comradery through each other, not words that are said to try to sway your thoughts and actions.. it's great. the beauty of words...
p.s. freddie mercury wasn't a christian. Zoroastrianism - that was his religion. |

i definitely agree with the fact that this song is about the struggle with the loss of faith.. but the political side that, obviously, many of you see in it - i really don't think that's even directed at any administration.. "cause the God i believe in never worked on a campaign trail." personally, i think it correlates more with the raising of funds within the church. selling salvation. for some reason that just stands out to me as an attack on religious foundations everywhere.. the song's name i think also has to deal with the loss of faith. people generally have a fear of not being sure of what's next.. the unknown. religion, for the most part, feeds on that - in my opinion.. so by our fears we follow the word. 'brimstone and fire'. the archers bows have broken. - the word lost its meaning. |

You guys keep repeating what everyone else is saying. As for Imagine and APC.. eMotive was all cover songs, none of them are original. Except Counting Sheep... but it's also a mix of 'Lullaby' and 'Pet'.. A Perfect Circle is amazing, but I think they deal more with the questioning of faith on most of their music. |

Except Counting Sheep... but it's also a mix of 'Lullaby' and 'Pet'.. A Perfect Circle is amazing, but I think they deal more with the questioning of faith on most of their music. |

I actually think this song is more of a plea to get someone back. He hates himself for his own weakness and envies her for the ability to be cold and dry.
"So ironic that a heart made by man, when broken is easily fixed. But a human hurt can last a lifetime."
To me this line means that no matter how far a society advances in medicine to fix the physical ailments, something mental sticks longer - mind over matter.
"Rust or decay, the fire or the flame." I think it's pretty much saying the same thing that "The Dance" by Garth Brooks says.. I wouldn't go back and change any of it. |

I think someone said something about a friendship and one feeling deeper than the other. I agree moreso with that one. It's like he's about to reach out and expose the way he feels but he's not certain how she'll react (I kinda know this situation quite well). "But it's not hard to fall when you float like a cannonball." I think he does mean 'to soar' when he says 'float like a cannonball'. I also think he's talking about his hopes though, flying high but like a cannonball the her rejection can make him plummet all the way back down. |

haha, I think the ending is the best part of the song. It really brings out the psychotic/irrational behavior and thoughts of anger - absolutely beautiful. By the way, never take anyones lyrics literally. They're all emotion. Simply put there to fill in the context or depth of the emotion. This being that he's EXTREMELY pissed. |

I don't think it's so much about a first date, I think it's more about how someone you're falling for has a way of knocking you off your feet. How they can make you come completely out of your element and how nervous you feel when you're falling in love and don't know what that feeling is...
On the other hand, the "wait, wait" I think it's him saying that.. Like he's talking to himself reminding himself that she had asked him to remember to breathe. |

You know, at first I thought it was about a man that lost the love of his life to death. Almost that he wished it was him that was taken instead of her, but after reading all these.. I think the "Some Devil" that's trapped inside is the anger that has built up inside over her leaving him but he loves her so much that he can't let her go. Everything he sees and does reminds him of something so beautiful that he doesn't want to let it go. I listen to the song all the time because there's a connection you can make with it. It sounds so sincere and honest. |
