I think this song is about redemption The hand is Christ's hand, The Furnace is probably hell and The Straight face is the straight face of a man realizing what his sin has cost him. It is about the choice between eternal life and death. And the lifestyle that follows the choice of eternal life. |

I was just thinking that maybe this goes with some of the themes of how crazy society has gotten and this is a diolouge between a man and Jesus and the parts of the song that sound like a man doubting his faith is exactly that, however the chourus with the wake up dead man may be christ speaking to the man calling him to wake up and break out of the prision of the media and the culture that we live in and truely see that God has a purpose that goes beyond the things that go wrong or the things that we don't understand. |

When I hear this song I think of the last chapter of the screw tape letters I don't konw if the band read the book but I know that it carries simmilar themes, And I think Triptych on the whole carries a similar message to that book. I would say that this song has every thing to do with eternal Life and as in the final chapter of screwtape that death is not something we should fear but see as only the beginging
Also the one final heart-break line I was thinking could that be death in that death will release us on to eternal life with God. Just a thought |
