Just my late 2 cents, but the Black Hawks and other tribes in the Plains were not all that peaceful or simple, they were complex tribes with a lot of warriors who were just as violent as American soldiers. I just wanted to state all that because my father is an archaeologist, I'm an Anthropology major, and I'm reading homework for such a class, so I feel the need to dispel the myth of the helpless pacifist indians.. Us Americans were still the Bad Guys in pretty much every way. I believe Abraham Lincoln was part of the Illinois Militia in those battles. Oh, and the song rocks and I like cronenburg's interpretation of the instrumentation. |

Anyways, wikipedia pointed out that this was the sequal to a song from the rapist's point of view, in which the rapist is in prison and now is ironically in prison. Interesting. All the other stuff about Vonegut refering to the media and all that sounds good too. |

The United States was not founded on current "neo-Christian" ideals. It was founded by a bunch of Anglican/Deist intellectuals, a few of whom were nearly agnostic in their outlooks. Most current religious BS in this country is very recent. That said, I enjoy this song because it gives a rather hard-hitting but fun take on some of the problems in the US. But remember, "those people" are NOT all Americans or all Christians. I'm both, but am just as frustrated a lot of times as many anti-everythings. |

I like coming to this site and finding out the subtle histories of these songs. Good Stuff. I considered this one of the main themes of my major relationship in 2003-04 after my girlfriend of 10 months cheated on me and left for the other guy, then crawled back 3 months later because the guy had been emotionally abusive. The whole "I don't care if your world is ending today because I wasn't invited to it anyway" and all those deliciously vicious lyrics matched pretty well with how I felt. |

I agree that Kylie has a very sexy voice, capable of being feisty and sensuous simultaneously. Based on the vaguely hip-hop vocalizations in the background and the allusion to chocolate.... could this song refer to not just a new and wonderful relationship, but to one with a black guy? Though in Australia there aren't many people of african decent, so perhaps the metaphor is less specific there than in America. |

From Wikipedia, the main backwards lyric is "I need more affection than you know". In the middle of the song, one also hears ""So many ups and downs" and "I need true emotion". This song extremely addictive. It seems to link to the Kingdom Hearts storyline, but even if one doesn't know the plot, the song still rocks. |

| This song is about failed relationships, especially long-term relationships, where one has put in so much time and effort that it seems you're "beyond this point of no return" with "no escape that I would dare." When a long-term relationship collapses from "love and trust" into "anger and disgust" (something that has happened to me) the whole world seems horrible and unhinged.
