In the making of AMOLAD video, Steve Harris says somthing to the effect that he's not anti-religion (nor is he for it) so, it seems to be more of an attack on the abuse of religion (like the Islamo-faschists [sp?]), rather than religion in general. Most religions, like Christianity, preach peace, but some people take things out of context and wage war in the name of God, when in reality, they're doing quite the opposite of what God wants. This song is targeted toward those select few individuals.

I agree with paulothemanio. yeah, the song starts off saying that war sucks, and the soldier trying to justify his actions. then he realizes the truth that "The reign of terror corruption must end; And we know deep down there's, no other way; No trust, no reasoning, no more to say"
Also keep in mind their newest album "A Matter of Life and Death." It's heavily war themed, and all the songs on it seem to say how wars sucks, but it's part of life and sometimes has to be done. |

it's wierd, my Dad, who is from Ireland, used to sing this song a lot, then when I heard Metallica sing it, I thought it would be cool, but it SUCKS!!! it's a HORRIBLE rendition of a classic song. James' "new" voice is just DISGUSTING!!! he NEEDS to start screaming again, like he did in the glory days!!! |

It seems as though someone has done somthing unforgivable, and will be punished for it, by death, i think, and doesn't think he's worthy of forgivness, but realizes that God will forgive him, 'cause God forgives anyone who's truly sorry for their sins. |

I'm so sick & tired of people who think every Catholic priest is a molester!!! I've been a faithful Catholic & Altar Boy all my life, and havn't been molested, nor do I know anyone whose been molested by a priest. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying there are just a few isolated events, and it's not just Catholics, I've heard MANY stories of protestant ministers & Jewish Rabbi's molesting kids too. Is it wrong? YES. Should they (Catholics & non-Catholics alike) be punished to the full extent of the law? OF COURSE. Does every Catholic priest do it to every person? HELL NO!!! |
