6am, the Macloed centre, Iona. We were leavin soon after then and Craig described this as the song that summed up the moment. So he played it on Euan's Ipod over the speaker system. Mid and Pamela looked transfixed on whatever was directly infront of them. Everyone was lying scrambled all over the flour battling their own personal battles with sleep. I'll love this song forever cos it reminds me of the good times. |

I heard the mary j blige version and i think its beautiful, she does an amazing job of it! it'll never be the original, but its a great version nonetheless! it annoys me when i see someone with a voice like that rapping. Her voice is phenomenal when she sings, why rap? lol. |

To me, I went on a vacation with my friends, I met a girl , got to now her well, was mad about her. I looked at the email adress she was punchin into my phone and it was the words of the chorus of this song. She didn't know of the song and well, when i said U2 in a kinda startled amazement she looked at me worriedly and said "yeah?" thinking i meant you too? and not U2 the band. I had my mp3 player with me and as i soon as i was torn away from her two days later to go somewhere else, i would listen to this song all the time. Over the months, we grew apart. I was pretty devastated and listen to this song whenever i feel i miss her. Not the original recording, as great as it was, but two other versions, one by a dutch rock band named Kane, and the astounding perfformance they did at Live8. |

It is the opening theme to it any way, hence the reference to stand alone, a series named the stand alone complex.

is in reference to the fact that she was once a human child with feelings and emotions but had to become an artificial being in order to survive. |

The song was written as the ending song to the Ghost in the Shell :Stand Alone Complex series. It is in reference to Motoko Kusanagi or "the major". The meaning of the song can be traced to the title of the story, ghost in the shelll is written about the evolution of robots becoming so advanced they start to wonder if they have human feelings, a ghost or soul in this metal shell. Also make the world seem borderless and can surf any where at anytime hence
"How is she when she doesn't surf?."
The line "She's so number nine" is in reference to the group she is invoved with and leads, section 9.

I think it's one of those songs that has different meanings to everyone, intentionally. It's a song written during a time of need that has expressed so many people when struggling, whether it be love or illness. the greatest songs have an ability to cater to all people in all situations.
