"For the words of the profits were written on the studio walls /And concert halls / And echoes with the sound of salesmen" That is a quite obvious reference to "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel where it says: "The words of the prophets / are written on the subway walls / And tenement halls. / And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.". Probably to highlight how the desire to publish good and beautiful music has been replaced with greed etc. nowadays? I wonder if there are more references to other songs in Spirit of Radio... |
