I never really took notice of these lyrics till my girlfriend and I broke up. We've remained friends and this song basically describes everything I'm feeling. My ex and I were constantly fighting , and now that we're friends , we get along so much better. Could it be that we have been this way before? She doesn't know how much I'm trying to make this friendship work , but also to hold back my feelings for her. There are times I beg her to consider taking me back and it does wear her thin down to the core. Every time I'm with her I fall in love with her over again , every night I see her is the night that I fall for her. Don't make me change my mind , it's what she says every time I beg her to come back to me. She gets upset because she doesn't want me to try and change her mind like I did before. I feel like she is a girl that is impossible to find and my enthusiasm for life has left me. As the song goes , I never intended this to happen , I always told her that if we broke up we would stay best friends , I would accept her decision to leave me , and I'd love her enough to let her go. She does think I'm stronger because I hide my pain , I hide my love from my best friend. Although I've failed , I never stopped loving her for a second. Every time I see her , I have to hold my breath from words that want to come out , feelings I want to tell her. These feelings cause me to breath deeply , lately I never feel like I'm ever breathing. Her words are cheap because I can see she still has some feelings for me , every night I go to bed I wonder if she is thinking of me. |

| This song reminds me of when I went on holiday with my girlfriend and her parents. And how they sat me down at their table and began to tell me how my beliefs are wrong , and how I'm going to hell , ever since then I haven't quite been the same , I have this build up of hate towards christians , I've managed to let go of most of it , but it is difficult , most of the people who follow the religion are just too judgemental. For me god is portrayed as being too dogmatic and dictator like for me to believe in him at this stage. But this is the song I listen to when these memories return in my head. | |

Ok heres my personal interpretation. After breaking up with my girlfriend 2 weeks ago I obviously interpret this song differently to the rest of you. From all the comments I've read , there have been two themes to this song , the one is the death of a person , the other being the death of a relationship. I believe it's the combination of these two. Come here, please hold my hand lord now (turning to god , because only he can help you , even though I dont believe in god I still asked for his help. Its funny the extremes we go through to rid yourself of pain you feel , you even ask a god who'm uv neglected for your whole life , for help , u think its worth a try) Help me, I'm scared please show me how to fight this, (You can't get over the person uv lost , you do not know what to do , you are lost) God has a master plan And I guess ( I guess ... he is not to sure , but trying to make himself feel better) I am in his demand (You start believing in fate and because it creates a hope that good things will come out of your loss of your girlfriend , u lie to yourself because it makes u feel better) Please save me this time I cannot run ( You cannot move on and run away from the pain you are feeling , you are asking to be saved because you are afraid of the suicidal thoughts going through your head , the "please save me" is expressed so well , its straight after the "god has a master plan" it shows that he just wants to be saved , by anyone , by a god , by his girlfriend) And I'll see you when this is done ( "this is done" , is the act of killing yourself and seeing the person in the afterlife or the act of "being saved" and seeing them in the present.) It's useless, my name has made the list And I wish, I gave you one last kiss ( "Its useless" , he knows every effort to get her back has been made and rejected , and because of this his name has made the list. Either the list of the people who are to die or perhaps the list of the exboyfriends in her life. He knows he wont be saved by her , she wont hold on to him , he just wishes he gave her one last kiss , maybe that would have been enough for him to want to save himself or enough for her to want to save him. Please stay until I'm gone (until he dies , he wants her to still be a part of his life) I'm here hold on to me I'm right here Waiting and take My one last breath, and don't forget (and take his one last breath ... breath is usually intwined with life , he has one last breath of life left in him , he wants her to "take it" and to realise that he is right here waiting. | Well I'm kind of a "noobie" metallica fan , I know it's very sad :) I've listened to them before but only lately have I really started listening to them. You know when you sing along to a song for ages , then you go on songmeanings.net and read the different views and oppinions people have on the song , all of a sudden it seems that the song goes through this re-birth and you start singing it again and it creates that vibe you got when you first heard it :) The reason I asked you is because you sound like an intelligent person who listens to the songs as well as their meanings. Anyways thanks alot ill download them :) Yeah downloading is bad , but ill definitely buy their dvd's to make up for it:P | |

| This is one of my favourite songs :) To me ( since music is so diverse and can mean different things to different people) this song is about someone who wants to make it. I skateboard and I would love to be a pro-skater , I skate for six hours a day on the stop watch. The song just basically talks about how everyone puts you down when you try and go for something that they think will make you more superiour than them. I'm always getting shot down by people when I talk about my skating or try and show them a trick ... but no one cares :) | |
