i've read Elliott's biography written shortly after his death called "elliott smith and the big nothing". In the book, the auther tells the readers that this song is about how elliott was sick and tired of all the attention and false sympathy he was getting. Many people judge elliott as a 'depressed singer/songwriter." Actually, elliott was a man with a good sense of humor and a good heart who simply fell on some hard times and therefore was misunderstood to being "depressed all the time" |
