| I think this is about man who is completely obsessed with someone. This obsession has led to him always wanting to be there for the girl. He is being patient, though. He wants the girl to love him back, even though he knows she might never love him the same way, but he will always be there, waiting for her. | |

I don't think Chris wrote this song with love in mind. Although I can see how it can relate to relationships, I doubt that was the intended meaning. Straight to the point, I think this song is about a man who has all but given up in life. He has dug himself so deep into something and now feels helpless. "I'm dead on the surface, but I'm screaming underneath." He doesn't want people to see him, to see his problems. He's trying to hide from it, but inwardly he wants to tell the world, wants to relieve himself of this burdon. Thats what its about. He finally has told someone about his problems in the end, and has been cut loose from the "noose" of his problems. I don't think he is speaking of this person in a romantic way, but in a friend-like way. |
