| Cat Stevens – Trouble Lyrics | 19 years ago |

despondent, excuse me, elliott smith did something great for music. Just that he covered such a wonderful song says something about him. Its very rude to just come along and say something so mean about someone who was so humble. I think cat stevens would most likely love that elliott did one of his songs and really like the cover. If you haven't heard the cover, I really recommend it, its beautiful. Knowing you most likely will never read this, She teaches art. |

| Rilo Kiley – A Man/Me/Then Jim Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I believe this line goes She said, "The slow fade of love It's soft edge might cut you And our poor friend Jim, well, he just lived within the slow fade of love" |

| Voxtrot – Rise Up In The Dirt Lyrics | 19 years ago |

these lyrics are quite off, I think, here's what I believe the words to be. Too many times you’re gonna go out river walking Too many times you come in late Too many times you suck yourself out of the scene. It makes you walk up straight, It makes you walk up straight. Too many times you trade the bottle for the body One drop for breath and one for skin You say nobody knows the truth about your body Are you tired and thing? Are you tired and thin? But if I were a good man Would it really happen Would you walk me home then, everyday from work. But maybe I’m a good man, wait and let it happen I believe in love, I’m married to my work. Cause I could be your father, I could be your brother, I could be your flower, rise up in the dirt, we were born to live here we were born to die here and you know this when you work yeah you watch me when you work and When you are free from the work of the towns well You know what to do with your hands Listen, I’m sure, you’ve got a few ideas. And when you wake from the shell of this body How will you sink your ghost in a man Well I hope you’ve got something better up your sleeve Too many times you cleaned your love dry for your family And roll over in your sleep Roll over twice and hold the burden like a man Something you can keep, something you can keep You smell the scent of something burning in the kitchen He smells the future on the lawn. These are the things we come to recognize as truth We cut the right into wrong, we cut the right into wrong. But if I were a good man Would it really happen Would you walk me home then, everyday from work. But maybe I’m a good man, wait and let it happen I believe in love, I’m married to my work. Cause I could be your father, I could be your brother, I could be your flower, rise up in the dirt, we were born to live here we were born to die here and you know this when you work yeah you watch me when you work it seems that we used to live like rebels but now we get scared like our parents our struggling faith, its just a waste of money and when you wake up tomorrow my son yeah, you will be the father of something terrible it will shine throughout you life oh it won’t burry you cause we know somewhere in the darkness you will find love baby you will find love you will feel young again and you will feel young. Absolutely fucking great song, though. |

| Bright Eyes – The Awful Sweetness of Escaping Sweat Lyrics | 20 years ago |

this is hands down the best song on the album. no joke. and the lyrics are incredible, the best i think. and ive read alot. i dont think this song should ever ever ever be rerecorded. it would loose the fragility that he had then that he doesnt have now. his voice is older, it wouldnt convey the same... innocence. when i hear this song i think of summer. i think of a boy leaving with a girl to have an adventure in the night. "we escape from the house as the day disappears from the sky into night we became what we wanted to be like a dream or a ghost " they are playing make believe. its never clear how old anyone is, but i dont think its important at what age this happens... "i collapse out of turn near a house lying still in the grass and felt the heat from the ground rising up to contract and expand like a breathe " i think there just tired of running, they fell down in the grass laughing, the blood is pounding in there heads, they feel giddy, high... there connected to nature. im pretty sure ive felt this before. "we escape from that place soaked with sweat and the poison we drank" they could have gone to a party, and then something there could have caused them to flee now i think this moves on to a week later, or a month later or some other time "fill the bathtub with ice and hope this fever will break like a heart easily " conor uses 'fever' allll the time. i think its specificly, a metaphor for his own mental turmoil. (ive gathered this from maria taylors song 'fever') so whatever hes speaking of is something he has experienced... here i think its depression most likely "but i do not recall all the words that were formed on those wire lips as they greeted me " these are the best lines. ever. the greates visual, the most beautiful personification. gorgeous. it seems harsh, that maybe they were mad at eachother... 'wire lips' thin lips, tight with dissaproval... "a promise was made without though as the temperature climbed " maybe he promises her that what happened before wont happen again, or maybe there older now and the game has changed into something more serious, and there still togethar and the same, and he wont leave her. "and i started to sink like the moon tends to do if you stare at it too long then you blink and its gone " breaking the promise "and we crawl to our sleep with the dawn i awake in the light feeling hollow and selfishly warm close the blinds and retreat until what is burning is gone and it's light is away " guilt for breaking the promise "then we are back in the dark chasing nothing through backyards and trees " flashback, reoccurence, memory "you ripped your shirt on a fence but it didn't get me yeah it's fear it makes you so low " its actaully 'slow'... like in a dream, the fear of it makes you not even able to run. "and these creatures look crooked their shadows cut lines through my face and the" i think the creatures are shadows... or trees or fence posts that look like standing men. "the concrete is fire where my bare feet are placed in a line next to yours " i love this part. the visuals fit amazingly well with the music, its just a great song, spinning and turnign and then falling down into the grass and feeling the earth breathe. "and i guess i'm not sure if it was fear that was born as those awful eyes made their claim on us " loss of innocence, uncertinty "i put my hands on the fence said your name and i started to climb " i love this part. its like he's trying to get out and he wants to get out there with her but she doesnt want to come. it could be a metaphor for the end of there relatioship... "and it must have been sweat but i drank it like wine it was sweet and my mouth was dry " a contradiction, a lie. "i heard you scream but i made no reply" they couldnt keep it togethar when it was all falling apart. "i can still taste it now if i try " memory. reoocurance. .love |
