Twenty Minute Drive – Just The Same Lyrics 20 years ago
This song was created after a long time listening to Eagle Eyed Cherry's "Falling in Love Again", and the influence is really clear (I am a thief...) - the music is similar and the lyrics are...ahem...very similar? It's about a relationship which seems like oh-so-familiar territory, but a whole new twist has been brought to it, because of the exciting person that it involves this time around. Some live variations of the last line of the final verse include "and the venue's not far / venue's [insert pub name here]'s bar"...etc.

Twenty Minute Drive – Time To Go Home Lyrics 20 years ago
We wrote this song on the last day in the studio recording "Neighbourhood Watch". I think we over-dramatized the fact that we were all really knackered out from the experience, and picked up on the little things that annoyed us from our stay. We had a great time there, but "the place was in a tip" - quite literally, and the 3 days of monotonous evenings playing xbox etc got on top of us, and we were ready to go home! The "I don't wanna hear that same song no more" parts refers to listening back to the same songs over and OVER again...but looking back, it wasn't that bad! The studio was fabulous, but the 3rd day was definitely "time to go home".

Twenty Minute Drive – Neighbourhood Watch Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about the ridiculousness of the term "neighbourhood watch". Walking around the town and seeing the familiar sign of a policeman and some citizens in the little yellow box, I stopped and thought to myself "what does this actually mean?" The answer is NOTHING. If some crazy person decides to burgal someone, they're gonna do it. On a wider scale, if a nation is going to go and bomb another nation, they're gonna get on with it. It doesn't matter how much we all look out for each other - even tho' it's a nice thought, and it's what we SHOULD be doing - unfortunately, you can't stop the evil that posseses some people's minds. We all stick together, but those individuals that spoil it for everyone else, and refuse to stick to societys rules, will have a lasting effect because they're the ones that have the most profound effect.
