@[kro:1737] Of course this is just inference, but I have always interpreted the inclusion of the line about straight-edge kids nothing more than an ironic criticism on people that represent something that they do not truly believe. In other words, on the outside they claim to be against something (in this case drug/promiscuity) but on the inside they are not only in favor of something but extremely or desperately participating in the opposite. You seem to have a predetermined message in your comment and loosely tying it to the lyrics in order to establish relevance. The topic of "straight-edge" is briefly touched on, but the entire song is about being "guilty just like everyone" which you provide an excellent example of in your post by insulting others for having no idea what they are talking about without having any firm ground to stand on yourself. Hilarious. |

This has been one of my favorite songs for so long, it's so passionate. I'm glad someone posted it here! I used to think it was "about two hours before you awake," but it makes sense that the protagonist would say " and about to [feel the sake (end)] I was, before you awake." I love this song. |

Spectacular song, very soothing. I must say that yamale has a convincing point of view on the song. I came up with a similar one myself, but yamale's is pretty damn clever. Mysterious Pinback. |

Fingernails get dirty when preparing drugs. You can do drugs in many places around the house and put them in food if ya like. There it is. :) |

One of the best covers ever.
Covers are supposed to add a new perspective to the interpretation of the song. They make Maiden's already dark song sound pitch black. Well done.
If you agree, check out "Losing My Religion" by Graveworm. Fucking tomenting cover! |

It's about parasites. They give numerous examples. I love the "scene" where he's scratching his body raw and picking the scabs.
The drug suggestion works out fine, but I think they're just singin about a life of filth and bugs. |

I figure this song is about isolation. Personally, I enjoy being by myself sometimes. I always feel depressed when I am by myself, but I like that sometimes. I think this song is about that desolate feeling when you're by yourself. Hell, even a cop makes for good company he's so alone. Before the cop, however, a guy (he's 25) shows up and could offer help, but the narrator just makes fun of him, calling him a mommas boy and all. The idea that he's "out of gas, etc" but wont look to others for help shows how helpless the situation is. He has nothing going for him, so other people have more interesting lives.
My favorite part about this song though is the music! |
