after months of listening to this song could never figure out the meaning of the song or the reference coconut skins and something came to me today this is my take.....he's developed feelings for someone that he should't have probably a girl who's already in a relationship and everyones becoming suspicious of them 'hanging out' and he's tired of asking everone elses permission to see her and they have to hide (go somewhere they won't be seen) whenever they're together, as neither of them think theres nothing wrong with 'hanging out' and they're just friends but deep down they both know there strong feelings involved.
