Bon Jovi – (You Want To) Make A Memory Lyrics 18 years ago
I noticed he's wearing a hug wedding band in the video. i wasn't sure if that's just because the singer is married or if it was significant to the song. If anything I thought the husband was the one that was dead. It's him that sort of dissipates in that one scene, not her, and plus she's talking with other people and he's not. I see dead people.

Dave Matthews Band – I Did It Lyrics 20 years ago
Has it occured to some people that a song can be "about" more than one thing? It's not necessarily an either/or proposition. And I'm not saying "it's whatever you want it to be." A talented writer often writes at two or more levels.

I'll throw my hat in with drugs as a metaphor for something or something as a replacement for drugs; it would be a little arbitrary to talk about two ideas and not have them mean anything in relation to eachother but that's not out of question either. I'm a not a user, but for better or worse I'm well aware of drug references in other Dave songs ("Crush" - "sitting, smoking, feeling high ..." coupled with the ambiance of the song). Chill, it's not like admitting Dave talks about drugs means you or I have to go do them.

Multiple interpretations of a word or phrase can and should coexist in good writing, especially short forms like poetry or lyrics e.g. "buzz" as publicity and "high" (chemical or otherwise); nickel and dime however, as mentioned by jennathena, definitely jail-time, (perhaps also money? in return "for what I've done", might be a stretch I admit), probably limited to one street reference at a time.
