I agree with scatogrl that this song is about how we don't want to end up in suburbia like our parents, but i think it also shows the other side; that no matter how much you don't want to admit it, your home will always be your childhood and will always mean something to you. Hence "I know just what I want, I know just what I need. It's a big old house and it's coming back to haung me." |

i think there's also significance in the line "the moon and stars are ganging up on the sun." the symbol for islam is a crescent moon and a star. just something to think about. |

i agree that this song is about not being able to help a strong partner until they're sick, but i get a vibe that it's almost like the person singing is trying to MAKE the other person sick or weak...
I think I made a mistake

It almost sounds to me like the person was so tired of not being able to take care of their partner that they felt the only way they could do it is if they made their partner feel weak or incompitent. |

i definitely can see the abortion thing... "narrow line, she can't decide" "a part of you that'll never show you're the only one that'll ever know"... it all just kind of fits in, i can definitely see this song being about making the decision to have an abortion and the feelings afterwards |

i agree with thats so 1982.. this song definitely reminds me of like end of school summer's coming parties where everyone's going away in a couple weeks and it's time to pretty much just get as drunk as possible and party while everyone's still there... its an awesome song i love being wasted and ready |

yeah the first time i heard this song the two coin thing definitely struck me as death. i dont know if the woman he's singing about is actually dead or just dead to him, but it's definitely about missing someone who's gone from your life forever. |
