King Crimson – Pictures of a City Lyrics 19 years ago
Great song, although perhaps a little too similar to Schizoid Man from the first album. In fact the wholoe first side of In The Wake Of Posiedon sounds like an extension of the first album... Second side is much better in my opinion.

So it's sort of like The Wall with a happy ending then?

Marilyn Manson – Kinderfeld Lyrics 20 years ago
This is a storyline track. Antichrist Superstar is about the end of the world, and follows on from Mechanical Animals (which carries on from Holy Wood). Wormboy meets his idol, Omega from Mechanical Animals, who tells him to fuck off. Long story short, this makes Wormboy pissed, his anger manifests into The Disintegrator, the Anti-Christ. Angel With The Scabbed Wings is when Wormboy first sees The Disintegrator in his full form. "Then I got my wings and I never even knew it." Wormboy realises that he is Disintegrator, and this causes Disintegrator to be unleashed in Anti-Christ Superstar, and then destroys the earth.

Very good satirical view of celebritarianism.

Imagine if Mustaine had stayed with Metallica. What an awesome band it would be.

Ozzy Osbourne – Hellraiser Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song, and the reason I bought No More Tears (all of the other great songs form this album were already on Essential Ozzy Osbourne), but I still like the Motorhead version a bit better, due to me not really liking Ozzy, just the fantastic musicains that surround him.

Yeah, it's written from the point of view of a serial killer. Very Alice Cooper-ish, and very cool.

Ozzy Osbourne – Mama I'm Coming Home Lyrics 20 years ago
This song was written by Lemmy from Motorhead, all Ozzy did was come up with the song title and the melody and Lemmy wrote ten sets of lyrics for it. From that I don't think it's about Sharon.

Yes, Ozzy tried to strangle Sharon.

I believe this song is the best on the Mob Rules album. The lyrics? I think they pretty much speak fro themselves

Black Sabbath – Disturbing The Priest Lyrics 20 years ago
Very heavy and scary song. I think it was probably written just to stir contreversy (that's what it feels like), but it's still a very strong song from the Born Again album, thanks to Ian Gillans powerful vocals.

Very fast, very heavy. Sounds sorta like it belongs on Ride The Lightning, doesn't it?

Marilyn Manson – Coma Black Lyrics 20 years ago
TRIPTYCH SPOILER ALERT: This post will contains spoilers for the storylines of Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death)

The Triptych is the sole reason why I like Manson as a lyricist. The story runs: Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death), Mechanical Animals and finally Antichrist Superstar. Holy Wood is about a young man called Adam who questions Holy Wood's obsession with "Gun's God And Government". Adam speaks out and is put into the Valley Of Death - a kind of prison. Adam becomes very depressed and lies the the authorities (who do not want him, or anybody else to be an individual), and pretends to believe as they want him to believe. He turns this into an insult on Born Again ("I'm so stupid just like you") and then goes to see his girlfriend Coma White. Coma is the daughter of President White, and is shot by a man named Valentine in this song ("Although Holy Wood was sad/They'de remember this as Valentine's day"). Adam no longer cares about himself and speaks out again, regardless of what happens to him because of it. Adam kills himself, ending the story of Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death).

Marilyn Manson has written a novel about the events of Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death), although only chapter 10 has been publicly released online.

In Mechanical Animals, Adam is reincarnated as Omega and becomes a rock star. He uses his lyrics to convey his message. The Last Day On Earth is a precursor to the events of Antichrist Superstar, and from what I can tell the song takes place before Omega And The Mechanical Animals go on stage. I think Coma White is either about his memories of Coma or another girl who reminds him of Coma.

In Antichrist superstar Omega is only used as an ignition of the end of the world. Wormboy is a bitter person who idolizes Omega. Wormboy meets Omega, who promptly tells him to fuck off. Wormboy begins to hate Omega, the only person Wormboy had any respect for, and his anger fosters the foetus of 'Little Horn' ("There is something growing in my chest/ it is hard and cold/It has been dormant for many years"). Little Horn grows ever more powerful and is unleashed as Disintegrator: The Antichrist. Disintegrator destroys the earth.

It's much deeper than what I have said, but yeah. If anyone would like to discuss the storyline, or have any more questions please, don't hesitate to e-mail me at: zombie_cecil@yahoo.co.nz
