I totally got something different out of this song. I think this song is about Kanye who is dating a high maintenance woman. She obviously really enjoys dating him and being in the spotlight and amongst the paparazzi. He on the other hand doesnt, but he does enjoy "the good life" (ie going on trips to florida, first class service ect) He ends up cheating on her and this is caught by the paparazzi. I think that maybe this high maintenance woman used this as leverage to launch her own career or maybe this is someone who sold her story to the paparazzi in order to make some money and catch a little fame. Basically used him, or used his mistake of cheating on her to get into the spotlight. He makes note in the song that the breakup was ugly but he still thinks of her in the lines: "I know it was foul baby Ay, babe, lately you been all on my brain And if somebody woulda told me a month ago Frontin' though Yo, I wouldn't wanna know If somebody woulda told me a year ago it'll go get this difficult" I think he probably wasn't expecting her to run off to the press crying Kanye cheated and didn't think things would get so ugly between them. She obviously leaves him feeling helpless and stranded because he says he feels like this: "Feeling like Katrina with no FEMA Like Martin with no Gina...ect" In the lines: "In my past you on the other side of the glass Of my memory's museum I'm just saying, hey Mona Lisa Come home you know you can't Rome without Caesar" I think he maybe is looking back on the situation and is thinking that even though she's in the spotlight now eventually she will be nothing without him. |
