| Regina Spektor – Lady Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song reminds me of a jack vettriano painting, i don't know why just the minute i heard it i sort of recognised the content of his paintings i love it, i can see how its about billie holiday, it sounds very inspired by music hall/jazz that sort of era so different to reginasauras's other stuff thats what makes her wonderful |

absoloutely stunning it seems to me something about getting old too fast, i don't know why, tgere's nothing to back it up it just has such a tragedy to it but at the same time you can tell the girls smart, laughing at the irony and still thinking she's a jerk i don't know i just absoloutely adore this song its stunning it reminds me of fiona apple ever so slightly but still its regina through and through and its her at her absoloute best |

| Regina Spektor – Carbon Monoxide Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i do agree with the suicide idea, it seems to make sense, and the idea of the holocaust is really intriguin, i can sort of see it, but not so much i just always made the connection between this song and her childhood, If I don’t got my socks on right They slide right off off my feet sort of encapulates the clumsiness of kids and the daddy parts i thiiiiink she grew up in soveit russia and moved to new york when she was 12ish, but im not sure, i dont know the extent of what happened in soviet russia, but maybe the idea of a gas attack sort of portrays the danger of living there? i'm not sure if thats right though i think it might be her move to america, and how those of her family might sneer at the decision to move to what has been deemed as one of the most materialistic countries: Cause we don’t have a job to keep They’ll just say that we’re being lazy Sex crazy, sex cra-zazy They’ll just say we’re living our whole life in bed sort of comments on how people will think that when her family moves, they will become this idea of "american pigs", sort of engulfing themselves in a fairly western sex crazed, lazy society and then come on daddy to me just seems like regina saying, hurry up and lets go oh and maybe No one will notice we’re gone Cause we don’t have a job to keep means that they havnt got anything to lose, so they might aswell leave its a long shot but thats what i hear when i listen to this song and its just evokes such feelings of defiance, as it was america where regina could write etc i suppose, but i dont know |

| Joshua Radin – Closer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i'm just wondering why he hates the fact they get close with each other, " wish it were over, we seem to never end," do you think she could be someones elses girlfriend, and she everytime her partner upsets her she goes to the narrator? i love the way he says "all you have to do is cry," like he knows hes been defeated. |

| Lily Allen – Everything's Just Wonderful Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i love this song, I wanna be able to eat spaghetti bolognase, And not feel bad about it for days and days and days, All the magazines they talk about weight loss, If I buy those dreams, I can look like Kate Moss is brilliant i feel its a bit satirical and all that, saying all this stupid social stuff is going on but shes still having a good time, unless that parts sarcastic i love it though, this girl is fantastic! |

| Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics | 19 years ago |
ok, so i have a theory on this and im probably looking into it too much, but this is what i think about everytimke i hear it the idea that samson gets all his strength from his hair, this man, who may not actually be called samson, thats just for metaphorical purposes who carries around his strength like a prize, (eg samson in his hair) as if hes proud, and always has his guard up and never opens up and the idea of the narrator cutting his hair, stands for letting him open up to her and the narrator is sort of saying how they've struggled etc, and maybe sometimes the relationship can be destrcutive "you are my sweetest downfall", but that shes the one who can do him good, and cut his hair, "he told me that I'd done alright and kissed me till the morning light " he displays gratitude etc the first time his hair is "cut" may symbolise him just breaking down and crying, but then just carrying on like normal, trying to do brilliant things to cover up his fragility: "He ate a slice of wonder bread and went right back to bed", and the second time, its like she eases him into 'cutting his hair' yeh so thats just my idea, sorry if its totally wrong, but i kind of like it, as if its the case, i can relate to 'samson' id also love to know the significance of "Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down Yeah, we couldn't destroy a single one", it doesn't really fit in with my idea, so i'm probably wrong its a beautiful song anyway i love this woman |

| The Black Eyed Peas – My Humps Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think the focus of this song isnt on the lyrics (despite that thats the objective of this site) and i totally agree that lyrics like these can get tedious when its pretty much mindless crap but i think this song is really well crafted and pretty uinique with its intro and outro etc. and is a brilliant dance track cus of the beat and all, will.i.am is a really talented producer and has helped co writer with load of artists personally i think alot of people are taking a light dance track way too seriously she just likes the guys looking at her arse :D ! |

| Maxïmo Park – Going Missing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
ok well, this reminds me of a situation i used to be in like these two people had a casual relationship, nothing official yet still pretty serious and hes basically saying that its over and stuff "This cant go on so I should just, Regret it, regret it, regret it, And even though I left you I'll, Forget it, forget it, forget it and so hes leaving for a while, maybe moving away or just going missing out of her life, until she has time to move on like he has respect for her feelings, when he might not have used to. as he does obviously feel bad and shouldntve done what he did thats why : I sleep with my hands across my chest, And I dream of you with someone else," cus he wants her to get over him, and be happy, pretty obvious interpretation i know, but still i love this song, the whole albums wonderful and smith's lyrics are so poetic, i think he studied some form of english at uni, it really shows, the language is wonderful! |

| Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this song is just absoloutely incredible, and jeff buckley's version is definitely the best, he sings with such emotion, it just sort of filters into your subconcious. however, the extra verses that buckley left out are so beautiful, they should've been added, they almost complete the song but even without them this is one of the most beautiful songs of all time!! |
| Fiona Apple – Please Please Please Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i love this, its like the ultimate "shut up" song, yeh i can see the idea of the music industry, especialy with, "me and everybody's on the sad same team..." bit. "I'm so tired of crying You'd think I was a siren" such a great line, full of exhaustion and emotion, lik it could be about anything to do with people just apologising but nothing happening about it in the long run... i can totally relate to this interms of friendships. brilliant song |
