erm.. i like this song to listen to just cos it sounds good, all AM's tracks do they know how to play. i think the whole " ergh dont idolise me cos im famous, we never wanted this blah blah" stuff is just annoying and overdone tho. To be honest i bet being famous is a bit crap, once you get popular and you are flavour of the month it's like the only way to go is crashing down. maybe AMs should concentrate on writing some decent stuff rather than moaning about the pressure of fame and fans that aren't true fans cos they haven't been there from the begining, so that they can grow as a band and not face an inevitable media (or fan!) backlash. At the same time though i think the lyrics are sincere and Turner believes in what he's writing about. i don't think they're in it for the money (though i don't think they'll be turning any of it down), I suppose Arctic Monkeys have built their image (intentionally or otherwise) around this idea of not exploiting themselves, and carrying on as if they were still a small time sheffield band who just want to make good music, so itmakes sense to write a song about it. Can't help wishing they'de just get on with it though rather than going on about how they're going to get on with it. |

well not as good as the demo, but still a decent version. these lyrics are possibly more understandable than the other ones and i prefer the chorus, i like how it's like one long sentence split up in different lines... if that makes sense. No needfor the fiona bit tho me thinks, the title just sound stupid now. best verse = Well I never came from no ghetto But it wasn't nowhere near here Well-spoken girls in stilletoes Aren't something to fear Being a northener myself i can relate to the whole north south devide. |

| ooo i love it when this comes on in he car and i just have to turn it up and sing along really loud. it's just really bitter but in a subdued way, which makes it all the more cutting. | |

I think it's partly about him not being able to live u to the lyrics he writes in his songs, and his relationships always suffer because of these false expectations girls have. hence: she says she's no good with words but i am worse barely stuttered out a joke of a romantic stuck to my tongue And these words are all i have so i write them so you need them just to get by Also- 2 quatres and a heart down. 2 quatres = a half = half hearted? thats what i always thought it meant anyway |
