So, I don't think this is necessarily what Chris Martin was meaning when he wrote this song, BUT (and I am looking at it from a Christian, theistic worldview) the way I see it: this is about a man (a "scientist"), who tried to reject God, but he can't.. "questions of science, science and progress, could not speak as loud as my heart..." he knows in his heart that God is there. He goes "up to meet" God (Come up to meet you), and repents (tell you I'm sorry) the only part that doesn't fit in with my theory is : You don't know how lovely you are.. because I think God knows how lovely He is.. you know. Cuz He's God.. So then I also thought about it and think that maybe God is "THE scientist," since He is the one who put all of the earth into motion and the singer is asking God to "tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions".. Nobody said it was easy - no one said the Christian life was easy =] Nor did I say that this was the correct meaning. I just think of it this way when I hear it. |

Are we sure it's "Roaming softly through yourself"? I think "Humming softly to yourself" would make more sense, especially since the next words are "you watched the words change for someone else" .. the song you were singing has been the same for awhile and someone else is getting what you have been waiting for but you're still singing the same old song..? That's what I think it is. Who knows. |

This song is amazing and I nearly cry every time . I think it's "Only you can take the widow's cry And cause her heart to sing Be the Father to the fatherless Our Saviour and our King" because sing would rhyme with king. :) there's other corrections needed but I need to write a paper. |

I always thought it was "Something about the midwest honey always makes me miss you more than a lot" I always thought it was so cute, and I like it better then "more than life".. But hey that's just me. |

What does the chorus mean?: "Sooner or later You'll find out there's a hole in the wall Sooner or later You'll find out there's a hole in the wall" Love this song. |
