I agree with madmolly . Our brains ARE on holiday. We just sit down and watch people get killed on tv, without doing anything at all.
I also agree with whoever said that, musically, this album is their best so far. I liked Dookie, Nimrod, Insomniac etc. but this cd shows us a new side of them. They can't keep on making "Basket Case's", they have to develop themselves or it would get boring. |

I agree with Richard Enahobo and phoenix2216, first of all, it IS amzing how much shit people write and you have to go to page 18 before someone actually analyze the song and don't just say how great it is or how much it sucks.
And I agree with pretty much everything WindCriesMary said. I never thought of it as a song about religion but now I see what you mean. I'm still not perfectly sure it really is about that but it's a really good suggestion. |

They don't say Hitler anywhere. But if you have read what jdeere_man wrote, you would understand it. It says how pretty clear. |

l.Bean.l - It's about what other think. Or not. But I think you're right. It's only good as long as it's not popular.
I don't care how popular they are. They could be bigger than Beatles and I would still listen to them. But I know a lot of people who say that they have sold out. And I mean, look at them, do they look like sellouts? No, they look like 3 guys who just had a overwhelming but amazing year. And maybe they can't make anything better than American Idiot the next time. And I doubt it, beacause it's amazing. But then listen to the old shit. Don't turn your back on them. Give them a break. It's not their "fault" that they're popular. It's "ours". |

Yes, it's called American Idiot, but it fits on most danes too. I mean, yeah, the U.S. have started pretty much all the bad things in the world, but as you say. The rest of the world went along, and they did it fast. I think the AMERICAN Idiot, first of all, is just because Bush IS an American Idiot and second of all, because they are from America. They can't really start saying that the world sucks, but America are the greatest f*cking country ever. I mean, when you're from at particular country, you don't know that much about other countries, the "inside stories" (Sure, we know a LOT about the U.S., but I mean, they're not really trying to hide what idiots they sometimes are.). But if they went to Denmark and talked to our prime minister, I think their next CD would be called Danish Idiot. No doubt. |

First of all, I pretty much agree with everything bigdatfaz wrote.
I think this song is about the "worldsituation" right now. I mean, this is all our fault. We started this, not only America (I'm from Denmark, and the danish government support the war too) but the entire world, and we have to take the concequences of our choices. Wheter or not it's going to be World War 3, I don't want to comment, because ther're so many things in in, things that I don't know anything about. But the world is what we made it to be and we just have to find ourselves in it. We have to figure out what we believe in, and then make everybody else believe in it too. I think that's what Green Day/Amstrong did with this song and as a matter of fact, the entire cd. Of course you can agree with Bush and everybody who made this war (I disagree). But once again, there's so many things going on that we don't know anything about. |

xxxhana_mcrxxx. Sorry, Nirvana isn't that legendary. Yes, everybody know them. But thats only because Kurt blew his brain out. Don't get me wrong, I like Nirvana, but Green Day are much bigger legends (I'm not an obsessed Nirvana-fan, so correct me if I'm wrong.). Nirvana became mainstream in.. 91 (right?) and Green Day in 94, and look who's still around.
Yes, I'm still a Green Day fan and to me it looks like people still like them. |

Of corse it's alright to comment the song, even if you don't like it. It just amuses me that the people who's writing in here, do not write in the castaway (or any other "unknown" song) debate. And for me, it shows that you don't know that much about the band and it surprises me that you can say they're not punk and they have changed a lot and so on. I'm an obsessed Green Day fan and i have followed their carriere since Dokkie and they really haven't changed that much. |

This song really relates to me (just like every damn song they've ever made) and I really like it. I think it's like when you say to yourself: "Hey, get yourself together, can't you see you are loosing all your friens, and maybe even your family".
I think the "still" word in "sometimes i still think i'm walking alone", means that you used to be like that, then you changed and became a really good person with a lot of friens and so. But all of a sudden you turn into the old "you" and start loosing your friens and become really mean and selfish. |

I think it's pretty selfexplaining. You want people to accept you but on the other hand you don't want to change who you are, so you kinda try to convince everybody to accept you for who you are. |

This one is my favorite Green Day song, it's simple but still deep and meaningful. And I like the music too. |
