| Okay-when this song first came out, I, a complete Weezer fanatic, was distressed. I thought it wasnt anything like any of Weezer's other songs, and was completely against anything they'd ever stood for. All my shallow, materialistic, moronic classmates at school would shout it at the top of their lungs, not knowing anything else about Weezer at all, but oh, because they liked one, what I thought terrible, at the time, song, they were then Weezer fans. Contristo, weez0268, agreed, partially, but when I saw pinko's entry I realized the song might have been a gimmick. Maybe the entire thing was just to mock the Hollywood lifestyle anyway, pretty much without them knowing it. :o) Pinko is right, Weezer isn't superficial and idiotic like that. The song seems weak but maybe it was just a hoax. The song was, miserably for me at the time, on the top 10 list [Itunes] forever. I'm sure, based on how successful it was, that they made a lot of money with it. If the song was really meant by Rivers to be so ironic, I applaud him to no end. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was planned that way, considering how amazing Weezer's other songs are. Oh, and yourewrong-you're wrong. Weezer's great. | |

I might get pummelled on this one but although I don't know a lot about Bright Eyes, from Oberst's other songs I've heard, I think it addresses less of meaningless relationships and more of the opposite. Aren't his other songs completely different from how this seems at a first glance? Maybe he's trying to make an ironic point. Then again, what do I know? I doubt the man is bisexual. |

| Considering what absolutely amazing people both Smith and Salinger are, I would definitely say they have some connection. A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a great story and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Smith had based the song on it. | |
