| Animal Collective – Doggy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Oh, and I love this song. Conours up very bittersweet images of childhood and loss of innocence. But i feel that many people overlook the fact that it may not actually be about a literal dog; To me this seems rater unlikely. To me it's a song about loss of innocence, the dog as a metaphor for this. At least that's how ihave interpreted it. | |

I'm pretty sure it says: The VET came with sutures He said Dave The doctor cannot save YOUR dog |

I think there are definite references to the Coleridge poem. Conor often makes poetic references in his lyrics, although many, if not all, of them go unnoticed by less literate listeners (that means you mostlynot). The poem refers to feeling separate from humanity as is the song. |

| An Angle – Green Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I love how An Angle is so original. It doesn't sound like anything i've ever heard. Doesn't sound at all like an awful outtake from Bright Eyes' 'Wide Awake' album. People who say that it sounds like Bright Eyes are so wrong, i mean the horns obviously aren't just lifted from 'Old Soul Song', they're completely different! And as for the themes Conor Oberst never ever covered the themes of alcohol and depression, so it's totally original. An angle are great! Yeah! I love ripoffs! |

| Jack Johnson – If I Could Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The hour-glass idea in this song i feel represents mortality... Similar to the way calendars and clocks represent this through the album "fevers and mirrors" by Bright Eyes. Although Jack's use of the idea is used much more explicitly... | |
| Jack Johnson – The News Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
In certain live performances of this song he adds the lines "We used to read a fairytale to our children, send them off to dream with the conversation. But now we just switch on the television, they're gonna learn to live with no imagination send them off to dream with too much information they're gonna learn to live with no imagination" I feel that these few lines sum up the themes of the whole song beautifully. Peace xxx |

| Jack Johnson – Inaudible Melodies Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is a beautiful song. Just thought I'd add that the chorus for this song used to be "Slow down Bruce, you're moving too fast. Frames can't catch you if you're moving like that" It was about how film-makers had a hard time filming Bruce Lee as he moved too fast for the cameras. Peace x x x |

| Bright Eyes – I've Been Eating (For You) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I believe that this song has blatant references to eating disorders. but just don't ask about my appetite i didn't lose it tonight it's been gone half my life it's just i i've been eating for you. These lines arent saying that he has his apetite back, rather that he only ate while he was happy when he was with her. Having had an eating disorder myself i know that you feel much more inclined to eat when you are happy than when you are not. Also "i've been eating for you," could mean that his girlfriend was worried about him and he ate to make her feel happy. And about the mirror line, that might just be referencing the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, most of which have mirrors on, rather than being a deep metaphor. People often spoil songs/poems/artwork by over-anylising them. |
