| Bob Dylan – The Man in Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Any man who has ever been truely in love with a woman (especially if he in some way feels as though he is not worthy of her love) will know what this is about. Its also very honest "and as for compensation, there's a little he would ask" - but he does want some compensation - and I think that compensation is clearly sex. This isn't one of those wishy washy I'll love you forever and I want nothing in return boy band drivel songs this is about what men really think. |

| Bob Dylan – Boots of Spanish Leather Lyrics | 20 years ago |

The song makes it clear that it's the woman leaving the man. I think in the final verse he is accepting that, because his love for her is pure, he must let her go. His choice of gift is for something that is tough and enduring. Spanish Boots of Spanish Leather will always be there to remind him of his lost love. This is at the same time one of the most heart-breaking and one of the most uplifting of Bob's songs. If you've ever been through a situation like this - and I have - then you can take great comfort from it and great strength. |
