I disagree with all the interpretations of what "portions for foxes" means. This is how I see it: Foxes being predators with insatiable appetites, I think she is saying that we will all be eaten alive by "foxes" (I suppose being symbolic of lovers) and even when they have devoured us whole, we will never be enough to satisfy them. We can give our all and they'll still want more than we can offer. Does that make sense? It does in my head, but I don't know if it came out right. Whatever. |
