Yeah, I thought about it and it seems to me that it's pretty obvious that this song is about VD. Not aids though, probably the clap or the herp or hpv. Think about it. It's a hightly sexual song thant starts with someone loosing their virginity under the cold sun and then ending up in the fall out. then in controll and telling the person that gave them vd to light a roman candle and hold it in their hand because they just created another one that will create that shower in the dark day with clean sparks diving down cooling on the waterway. It's like a jaded song about sex. Think. and everywhere no one want's to talk about it and the fire is spreading. It's not as deep as it is elusive. just like that vd talk with your mom. |

This is just a stab at the insenativity towards violence and poverty in our culture. it makes for a nice dark song though. I loved it on the Natural Born Killers sound track. |

I may be crazy but i think this one's about Jame's mom. I think since she died when he was young she haunts his dreams and that's when he speaks with her. I think the origional unforgiven was his father for never accepting him for who he was. I think he looks for forgivness and acceptance from his mother in his dreams, The whole song references to a woman who has passed away. The door is closed so are your eyes, She'll be there when I;m gone, dead sure she'll be there. But when he wakes up every day he realizes that she cannot save him and that by being gone, she has abandoned him and he just has to much hate so he puts her in the same catagory as his unforgiven father. You can tell that he loves her but he just has to much hate. Just like that song. Mama let my heart go, or let this heart beat still. He never wants to love anyone because it hurts to much and it all started with his parents. |

Man if you listen to S&M you hear James say do we have any wolves out there? Everyone has an inner animal and that drives thier instincts. Most animals have similar instincts, but if you can't feel the wolf inside of you then you are not a wolf. James is a wolf and this song is about him. that's why he doesn't say " are their any horses out there" those guys who think this song is about warewolves are the ones who cannot relate to an inner wolf. Just like the little red riding hood story. Thats not about a wolf and a girl, its about a man and a girl. The shpe shift is not from man to wolf, it is from wolf to man. Its a spirit animal. |

Yeah, I think it is about James and his relationship with his father. I think that he didn't feel accepted by his father and I think that he was criticized by his father and he felt anger towards him for it. So he lableled his fathe unforgivin as he felt labeled as not good enough no matter what he did to please him. That makes perfect sense to me. I think the turnaround for the song is at the point where it says Throughtout his life the same. That means to me that he harbored those feelings into adulthood and that he felt that no one ever realy appreciated anything that he did no matter how hard he tried. He might even still feel that way even though millions of people love his music, because he never had the satisfaction of hearing it from the person who mattered to him the most. |

I feel means that the poor guy can't get far enough away from the people he loved to forget about them and the pain they caused him. At least thats how I feel and I've gone as far away on this earth as I can get. I also think that this song is entirely for the guy singing it because the people he's singing it to wouldn't give a shit what he was trying to say otherwse the song never would have been written in the first place. This is a good sounding song though, I'm glad he wrote it. |

This song kicks ass. It sounds realy good if you have some good bass. Origionaly I though this song was about self improvment through self destruction. You know beating yourself up everyday to be better. But I think thunderbird might have it right. Maby its more literal. It makes sense that way too. |

I'm a big Metallica fan. Origionally, I thought this song was just about a threesome with the guy singing the song and Carie and Susie, You know Carie nurse and Susie dear would find themselfs at four winds bar, just a place to hoplessly encounter time and then came me. But realizing James's facination with sin and evil. I think that the first verse is giving the guys frame of mind, which is hopless and lonley and that his and everyone elses fate is sealed that night because of astronomy. What I think the next verse might mean is that when he takes Suzie to the beach to have sex with her, he couldn't help himself and the map that carie reads is the clock which cannot be turned back, so what is done is done. Susie and him are both faited, that is the trick of the four winds bar. You enter it seing a queenly fulx, eternal light. Maby that is heaven or happyness either way its a way out, but it's not a way out, its just a constant reminder of the way you came in. It's like they are stuck with their regrets or sins or whatever. which is the nexus of the crisis, or the point of the song. then of course carie is there already and susie is new to fourwinds and the guy singing the song put them both there because he could not help himself. they are his gravley digs, and his regrets, even his poor dog who he had fixed probably for doing the same shit. And acording to the stars, it was all going to happen that way anyways and aint that some shit |
