| The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| the way I take this song, is how society blames things on the devil, when really it may not be that bad. For instance, he says he made sure Pilate condemned Jesus, well that gave us our Lord and Savior. He then takes the form of communism, which as Americans we all condemn, but let's look at it. Communism rid Russia of the Czars which I think most would agree was a good thing, and I think the narrator is still supposed to be communism in the next verse. We all hated Stalin and communism, but if it wasn't for them, Hitler would have probably taken over Asia with Japan and could then focus on Europe and America and possibly win the war. And the Kennedy's? Maybe the Stones knew how corrupt that family really was so they decided to throw in that ridding the world of JFK and Bobby was possibly a good thing. Who knows, that's just how I interpret the song, and if it's written grammatically correct, I think that is how it should be interpreted, or at least something to that extent. | |

| The Who – Pinball Wizard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| When I heard this song, I had to try it. I blind-folded myself and put ear plugs in, and yup, I played pinball. It was very hard, but it was possible. I didn't use my "sense of smell", but I could feel the movements through my fingers. I was amazed. Then I lost and couldn't find the quarter slot so I gave up. | |
| Weezer – This Is Such A Pity Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Wrapid and Morvit, ya'll are dumbasses. Don't try to make something that isn't there. Rivers doesn't write songs that are real deep. In fact, most artists don't, with the exception of Don McLean. However the hell you got Jews and World War II out of this, you are wrong. It is real basic and simple. Just listen to the song and you'll understand what it's about. Don't analyze anything. | |
| Kansas – Carry on Wayward Son Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I honestly haven't analyzed this song, and I am not going to. I really don't care what it means, it is a great song, me personal favorite from Kansas, yes, even better than Dust in the Wind. | |
| Weezer – Buddy Holly Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i've always loved the classics like Buddy Holly(hence my name) and i think this song is about a good relationship, and Weezer just wanted to make it a tribute to Buddy | |
| Weezer – No One Else Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i know i my sound selfish, but i totally relate to this song. i broke up with this girl that i really liked(plus she was smokin' hot) because she just...showed too much love to other guys. it was like she treated five other guys the same way she treated me, but i was her boyfriend. i know its selfish, but i think anyone can relate, guys and girls. girls, you know you wouldn't want your boyfriend to be hittin' on other girls that are hotter than you, right? | |
| Weezer – Say It Ain't So Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I used to listen to only classic rock, but Weezer opened the door to me. I just bought the Blue Album and I'm probably going to get Make Believe tomorrow. I've always heard this song, either on the radio or in a friend's car, or at the skating rink(when it first came out) and I have always loved it. I then heard Beverly Hills on the radio and I liked that song to. Next thing you know, I'm on weezer.com listening to all their songs. I am now an avid Weezer fan and they are starting to take up space in my CD wallet. I had to kick Simon and Garfunkel out along with Bread to make room for them. But, it was definitely worth it. | |
| Weezer – Beverly Hills Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I really enjoyed this song. The lyrics are a little weak, but the video is great, and the tune is amazing. It definitely isn't one of Weezer's best, but it is good. | |
| Weezer – Perfect Situation Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Good song, nothing special, but I really love the video. If you haven't had a chance to see it, I highly suggest it. It is one of my favorites. Plus, the whole "Weeze" thing is hilarious. | |
| Rent – Seasons Of Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| he used "inane" right you retards, he's saying that even though he wants to beat them, he thinks its so stupid that he shouldn't even waste the effort. Try thinking the next time you try to sound smart. | |
| Jethro Tull – Bungle In The Jungle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
toolmusik and jcaudio are on the mark with this song being based on a book. There are many references made to both. For example, "I'm a tiger when I want love, but I'm a snake if we disagree." this is from "The Jungle". The main character is a very large man named Jurgis. Even though he is large, he is very kind, gentle, and loving to his petite wife Ona. However, Jurgis is thrown in jail multiple times for fighting with people that tried to harm his family. tps12, you need to stop doing drugs and think before you speak (or type, whichever the case may be). |

| The Animals – We Gotta Get Out Of This Place Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I know this song is more about society than the war, but when I hear it, it makes me think of the soldiers in vietnam thinking the war is pointless, and "We gotta get out of this place." I am only 16 but listening to classic rock and watching movies like "Platoon" and "We were soldiers" makes me feel like I was almost a part of the war. I know what I am feeling is nothing like what people who lived through it felt, and I admire all of you who did. P.S. Those two movies are great. I would highly suggest watching them. They are great war movies, up there with "Patton" and "The Longest Day" |

| Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Chicago was an an anti-drug band, therefore the whole drug thing is completely bogus. If you look at the song verse by verse, there is only one verse that says it might be about drugs and that is: "Wondering how much I can take Should I try to do some more" If you have ever been up late cramming for a test or doing a project (I'm sure we all have) you know that feeling when its really late, or early, whichever the case may be, and you wonder if you should keep trying to get work done, or go to sleep and finish it in the morning. That is how I interpret those two lines. The rest of the song can only support the last-minute-song-theory. Any other meanings are just morons twisting the words to please their theory. "Waiting for the break of day" "Feeling like I ought to sleep" "Wanting just to stay awake" All of these lines support staying awake. This leaves 25 or 6 to 4 to mean only one thing, the time. Any cocaine ratios are morons twisting the lyrics. The most basic way to turn "25 or 6 to 4" into time is 25 or (2)6 minutes until 4 o'clock. But I am not absolutely positive this is how the band intended it, but it is probably accurate. In conclusion, "25 or 6 to 4" has nothing to do with drugs. It is merely a song about staying up late working on something and being so tired that you aren't even sure what time it is. |

| Steppenwolf – Snowblind Friend Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I feel your pain Gimpy Jim. I too have lost good friends to hard drugs, and I have others that are heading toward that path. It's depressing what this world has come to. People should learn to have fun without getting drunk or high. My current group of friends and I are 16 and we have all had some exposure to either drugs or alcohol. But luckily we have all learned from our errors or the mistakes of others. I am happy to say that none of us drink or smoke and probably won't do any more ever again. | |
| Steppenwolf – Magic Carpet Ride Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
First of all, this song has nothing to do with a frat. If you read my review on "It's Never Too Late", you will understand that Steppenwolf is pro-choice, not pro drug or anti drug. He personally views drugs as bad, hence "The Pusher", and parts of "It's Never Too Late" but he also believes that people should have the choice, "Don't Step on the Grass, Sam". This song can go both ways. If the only way you can have a good time is by getting high, then yes you will interpret this song as getting high and going for a magic carpet ride. But if you don't have drug problems, you can feel just as "groovy" with some good tunes. This is the point Steppenwolf was trying to get across with this song. If you need to then go get high, otherwise, lay back(not have sex) with a girl and listen to some music. |

| Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Wow... I just read J. Diddy's page 2. I would like to let you know that I did give him a standing ovation after I read that. He backed everything up with evidence and then backed that up with more evidence. Touche Diddy, that was an inspirational piece of work. I would like to thank you for that outstanding post. I don't think there is anything else for people to post after that. You answered 99% of the questions in this song. Again, thank you for that wonderful post. | |
| Steppenwolf – It's Never Too Late Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I have heard a lot of controversy on this song: Pro-drug or Anti-drug. I am still not sure if it is one or the other so I am deciding on both. I think hurleychick is right on the part that this song is about how people react to their lives. Here is the evidence for my theories: Pro-drug: "Up on your wall hangs your degree Your parents craved so much for you And though you're trained to make your mark You still don't quite know what to do" This verse is saying that you were pushed/forced into your current life because of your parents. Even though you have gone this far, it's never too late to start all over again. Now you can have fun and do all the drugs you want. Anti-drug: "You say you've only got one life to live And when your dead your gone Your family comes to your grave And with tears in their eyes They tell you, you did something wrong 'You left us alone'" As a drugee you used the excuse, "I only have one life, might as well live it to the fullest." Well, you died because of overdose. Not only that, you left a wife kids behind. You've left them alone with no support, I hope you had a good life because you ruined your family's. These are just two of my arguments for pro-drug and anti-drug. As you can see I am very complexed on what Steppenwolf's intent was. All I can guess is that he wanted to point out the pros and cons to drugs to educate Americans and not tell them what to do. If you have any other ideas, please post them. I would really like to see what other people think. |

| Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I just noticed this, the first two lines are written in past tense unlike the rest of the song, further supporting my theory on the first part being about the crucifiction and the rest being about the Revelation | |
| Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| huh, I said "First of all" twice, kind of redundant wouldn't you say? | |
| Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
First of all I have read the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy so don't call me a dumbass for some of the things I may be about to say. First of all: Lord of the Rings is not based on Christianity. Tolkien himself said it wasn't. All theories on this are people just finding random stuff and twisting it toward Christianity. Second: I believe this song to be taken from both the Bible AND Lord of the Rings. It is obvious in the usage of the Ringwraiths and the Dark Lord that Zeppelin is making references to LOTR, but look at the second line: "The Prince of Peace (Jesus) embraced the gloom, And walked the night alone." It is very clear to me that this is refering to the night before the Crucifiction where Jesus embraced the fact that he was about to die a horribly painful death and he wondered in the garden at night by himself. So... for those of you who think this song is ONLY reference to the Bible or LOTR, I just want to say "WAKE UP!" It is very clear that Zeppelin used references to both. Thank you for your time. |
