i think the way he starts of with "pack my suit in a bag, all dressed up for prague", shows that he has some hope for the "war" he's going to, as afore mentioned, probably for some girl's heart. The guitar and the drums in the background does seem to give some kind of military theme to it, however the flattish tone of the song gives the impression of losing the "war"-"warp myself in a bag" is my personal favourite line, and it's probably about a body bag, because he doesnt think he'll win this one "all wrapped up with him too", which again backs up what someone else was saying about being a contender for some girl. I actually think the lines "when you still don't know", shows that maybe she's not aware that he's so hurt by it.
anyway, this is an amazing song. i love how he's used the guitar and how it connects so well with "cheers darlin'". However, i'm sure the title has some meaning, and i think i'll go do some research into it. |

I think this song is about him having some kind of problem in his life, and turning to drink to solve it-for instance he mentions Jack (Jack Daniels) and also Sauvignon, which is wine. I think he's trying to make things work, and that he's apologizing to himself, because it says that he looks into the mirror and says to himself "baby, we'll be fine". The last baby that he mentions is probably his girlfriend, and that he needs some comfort in his life. It's probably a bad time in his life, and the song's about him turning to drink to solve it for the moment-the song seems quite happy, and the convincing "baby we'll be fine" but the same as in Mr. November, he's talking about not knowing what to do "I dont know how to do this". |

I like the violin bit in this song. i also think that the way the song is played it conveys movement, as if moving through the countryside. I think the actual meaning of the song is that he's having an arguement with someone, probably his girlfriend ("you're the only thing that i can stand"). The last lines seem quite sad, "yes i'm listening, i can tell you're serious", which could suggest a break up, or something of the sort. He makes her sound as if she's angry at him "so you can make another claim". I think he wants to disappear, and that he wishes it all to be over-the arguing that is.
well, thats my version of it, and it strikes me as quite a sad song really, but i really like this. |
