| Van Morrison – Tupelo Honey Lyrics

This song is about the Statue of Liberty and American Freedom. From the Boston Tea Party to the granite men on Mount Rushmore, to Tupolo Honey which is only found in America, this is a homage to American's kicking the British. Which Irishman Van Morrison must have especially enjoyed. |

In the UK Pepsi commercial, with Beyonce, Pink, and Britney singing it, the song is used by Pepsi to distance itself from the war in Iraq. The Emperor has arranged a gladiator fight between the three women, but they let peace doves fly, and instead of fighting amoungst themselves, they feed the emperor to the lions and share his Pepsi with the crowd. Amazingly, since the song was first song in the 1970's, in the Pepsi version, the waving banner suddenly means the 'Mission Accomplished' banner. |

The movie was The Savage Innocents, starring Anthony Quinn in 1959, about the clash between tradiional Inuit and Canadian culture. Nowadays, Eskimo is a bad word, so the song would be Quinn the Inuit! |

To the speed-freaks (methamphetamine addicts) who hung out at the beaches in NYC in the '60s, this song was about speed. The ones doing speed night after night were said to be 'on a run' and called themselves 'shadows'; especially since they never ate and were all thin and gaunt. Don't know what Dylan meant but there's not a line in here that the speed freaks didn't think was about them - and I agree. The song is about still being awake at dawn after a night high on speed, and still can't sleep, or eat, or stop talking about what just happened. |

| Bob Dylan – It's All Over Now, Baby Blue Lyrics
| 20 years ago

This song is about the Cuban Revolution, when Castro ('your orphan with his gun") and his guerillas ("the saints") tossed out the mob run casinos ('gamblers), who had to hit the 'highway', and also tossed out the US backed puppet government (baby blue), who had to 'row' to exile in Miami. Ultimately, as we know, Castro took over the govt. of Cuba ('the vagabond..standing in the clothes that you once wore.") |
