I was searching some other sites and came across some interesting thoughts:
Your all wrong, this song has nothing to do with god. It's about a government that is oppressing people by treating people as carbons and chemicals. They are taking away peoples' free will, so a group of rebels are taking on the government.
The lyric "we're the image of the invisible" is talking about how the rebels are fighting for the people who can't fight because they're in jail. When they say remove the cancer, they are saying remove the government that is bad. Then they say "take back your souls". They have freed the jailed people. "Raise the banner, bend back your bows is saying we're here and we're ready to attack. "We can't let this go" is saying we need to stand up for our rights. By saying "we will never walk alone" because the people inprisoned will allways be with them. Them saying that all the world hates them is because they are different, standing up for the rights of the little guy.
The song is about the government influencing negative things to the children and making them believe that they are nothing more than carbon and chemicals. It shows that children are easy targets for corprate influence thus forcing them away from their family. |

You're right GypsyDust. Stevie was pregnant around the same time as a friend of hers. This friend developed cancer during her pregnancy and instead of going through chemo to save her life but risk losing the baby, she decided to let the baby live and let the cancer take her. Stevie on the other hand felt that she was in no shape to be a mother so she had an abortion. To this day she still feels guilty about the situation and this song goes out to her unborn child. |

I totally agree with you stoolhardy. I think the song is meant to just get the party started and get everybody dance how ever their style is even if it makes you look stupid. Most of their songs are dance/club oriented so their lyrics don't make too much sense because you are just supposed to get your groove on, not pay attention to the words. |

Based on that passage I would have to say that obviously they don't mean to be rude, politically incorrect, or disrespectful but for the next five minutes (or during this song because the song is about five minutes etc.) they want you to just let go of everything and dance, bob your head, or what ever just move to the music regardless of how you look as long as you are moving to the beat. |
