Hm, Yellowcarded you have interesting analysis's of the songs. Provokes much more thinking. But I would have to see that I think this is about relationships. As for the people who analyze it one line at a time, thats a great way to try to find the meanings in songs, but sometimes theyre written just as like...a collage. of a bunch of lines and themes that might not make total sense or have a follow-able story line, but are trying to convey an overall effect. I think thats what this song is, it has influences from different parts of his life. A relationship is going wrong, and its fueled by maybe his hatred of living in the city, and he cant let go of his regrets which just makes all of it worse. |

| first time i heard this i sat down at my old out of tune piano (i know my name is basschickrocker but ive been playing piano for like 8 years now) and it sounded so creepy and cool playing it with the track like it added so much. especially since the piano had that old spooky feel to it, its old and not a standup but not a grand either, the strings are horizontal but its not a baby grand. really awesome. i love atreyu's guitar solos, they just hit the spot, even tho sometimes they all kind of sound the same. but it sounds good, so im not complianing! | |

wow i love it how on this site nobody comes and totally disses blue october its really refreshing! but anyways! i read somewhere that its about the death of a really close relative or friend or something, im guessing his mom because of the phone recording at the beginning. this person really helped him and gave him the unconditional love that he needed but felt like he didnt deserve. (i.e.- hate me) i LOVE the whole second verse. its so personal and it lets you go deep into the songwriters soul, i mean if i wrote a song like this for my band i sure as hell wouldnt want it recorded because it would be like baring myself to the whole world, but thats what makes this song so great. "im sober now for three whole months, its one accomplishment that you helped me with. the one thing that always tore us apart is the one thing that i wont touch again" hes saying thankyou for helping me turn my life around, he hints that thats only ONE thing that shes helped him overcome, and he promises not to do that to them again. "in a sick way i want to thankyou for holding my head up late at night" i love "in a sick way" cuz its so true. its messed up but its real! "when i was busy waging wars on myself, you were trying to stop the fight" this really struck home to me because i did shit and i never realized how it affected my boyfriend until he got me out of it. i was so busy fucking up myself that i didnt realize he was getting messed up, too. "you never doubted my warped opinions on things like suicidal hate" so true. my boyfriend and i will have completely everyday conversations about suicide and really dark thoughts that we wouldnt tell anybody else, but we talk about it with each other like we were discussing the weather. like ive said on emotionless, i just had a burned cd with GOOD CHARLOTTE written on it, (it was Young and Hopeless) and it helped me through so frickin much, my dad leaving, boyfriend commiting suicide, mom becoming an alcoholic and getting into major debt, but im not gonna whine about life here. Anyways, then i found out who they are. They USED to be punks, USED to be original, USED to kno where all the kids like me were coming from. But now they have totally sold out. Dating Hilary Duff and then singing about how bad life is. it just takes away all the meaning that their songs could hold, you kno? im not explaining this really well, it sounds like im just trying to dump shit on good charlotte and im not. my brothers girlfriends little sister who is still older than me burned this cd for me when i was in sixth grade, all it had was "good charlotte" written on it, i didnt know who they were or that they were famous or anything. i didnt even kno the names of the songs, i just had this cd with music on it. i listened to it the whole way through and found that what they were writing about was so fuckin true. i loved this music, it helped me through some really tough times. and then i found out about good charlotte, how they are all famous and mtv ppl and dating other fuckin celebrities and everything. basically how they have totally sold out. well not paul and billy, but anyways. and then i dunno, something happened where the music didnt hold as much meaning. these werent just ordinary kids, writing from their heart anymore. they were famous celebrities, and money was a motivation. it sucked. but still, i try to hold on to what it meant before, where i really felt like we were coming from the same place. so anyways, about the song... my dad left, when i was like, 12 i think. packed up and walked out the door. but he still wont sign any divorce papers because he wants the benefits of being married, i think im not sure. i wrote down these lyrics and burned the song to a cd, and sent it to him. he was supposed to be a 'father'. does that word MEAN anything to him? he was supposed to be the leader, to make desicions about things, to raise his kids up right, to stay with my mom. he made a fucking commitment, and he fucking walked out on it. and normally it wouldnt matter, but he didnt just screw up his life, he screwed up mine and my brothers, and my moms. im never gonna forgive that, but like this song is saying, im just letting it go. i dont care anymore, because when you care you get hurt, and im tired of the fucking pain. |
