| Completely agree :) Take "Supermassive Black Hole" for example. We know that song isn't about baseball ^^ | |
| Jack's Mannequin – MFEO: Part 1: Made for Each Other/Part 2: You Can Breathe Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I have no problem with it being about cocaine, but does that make the entire CD about cocaine? I mean, y'know...'This is a Story', the website has the characters... This is the last song on the CD, the ending to the story. So if cocaine's part of this one...I just can't tie it to the rest of them. It might be a vital part of this song, but not the entire song. Not that I actually do know what it's about or anything -_-; |

| Foo Fighters – Times Like These Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Well, this is what it means to -me-, you can agree or disagree at will... I'm looking at it, primarily, in the light of a relationship, probably a romantic one. "I, I'm a one-way motorway, I'm the one that drives away then follows you back home" Okay, he's on a one-way path, so this important to keep in mind. Wherever he's going, for better or worse, it's not changing. Someone earlier asked how he could follow her back home if he was on a one-way street. I think maybe this is showing that it's not good for him to follow her back, but he does anyway. Ever gone the wrong way on a one-way street? It's not a good thing. "I am a street light shining I'm a wild light blinding bright burning off alone" Okay, so he's alone, even if he's got this girl. I think what he's saying here is that his situation is painfully obvious, to himself and everyone. Whatever is going right/wrong in this relationship is so obvious that it's blinding, to everyone that sees it (like those driving by a streetlight) and to himself (who is, symbollically, the streetlight). "I am a new day rising I'm a brand new sky to hang the stars upon tonight" Now he's changing. He's starting to think about his life, and whether it needs to change or not. I kind of look at it like a "clean slate", all fresh and ready for the artist to paint a different picture. Maybe it's time for him to change his life and do something different. "I am a little divided do I stay or run away and leave it all behind?" This is the most crucial part of the song. This is where we realize that the relationship he's talking about probably isn't good, otherwise he wouldn't consider leaving. Does he stay like he has all the other times, or is it time for him to move on with his life? "It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again " The resolution, although it's a little vague. Perhaps he's learned to love the girl he's already with again, or maybe he's finally moved on and realized that there's more to life than just this girl, other possibilities for happiness. Um, so, that's what I think...one-way street down to a failing relationship, and it's hard to move on, but sometimes we just have to "learn to love again". That's all. =) |

| Kelis – Milkshake Lyrics | 19 years ago |

So...I work at Dairy Queen, and naturally, we have a milkshake machine... ...and I can't go an entire day at work without someone ordering a shake... ...and...this song comes into my mind. And STAYS there. -_-; That's it. As for what it means...well, she's obviously talking about her lovely homemade milkshakes, uh, right? Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry? ;) |

| Something Corporate – Me And The Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I personally think its about murder AND suicide. In the first half of the song, she murders her husband. I think everyone else has done just fine explaining why. Now in the second half-- starting with "And it's over, but just started"-- she kills herself. In the first paragraph-thingy, no one's sure her crime had a reason because she killed herself. She couldn't say. Her blood stained the carpet, she's lucid and departed...she killed herself after killing him. Maybe? =S I dunno, but that's what Ive always thought! ^_^ |

Eh, well, this is certainly the most...unique...thing I've ever read. I would analyze it, but I think the song speaks volumes for itself. Or at least paragraphs. Maybe even a sentence. Maybe this should be our locker-room theme song for p.e..... Eh...no comment, really? |

| R.E.M. – The Great Beyond Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I watched the stars fall silent from your eyes...I always wondered if this was a reference to crying or losing hope in your dreams, or maybe both at the same time. But that doesn't fit in with the rest of the song at all, does it? o.O I dunno...>.< 'Sjust my thought on it. |

| R.E.M. – At My Most Beautiful Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this is the most beautiful love song ever T_T It's so not-perfect, and that's what makes it perfect...you know? It's not saying that everything's perfect, it's just so...it's just so open and honest. *cries* If anyone were to ever sing me a song, I'd totally want this one. Oh, yeah, what this means...XD Well, I think it's pretty obvious... 'Like I wouldn't know its you at your most beautiful'. Okay, so for him, she's the prettiest when she's just being herself. Not when she's all dressed up, anything...just being her simple self. Something as easy as saying your name on an answering machine, y'know...just the little things about her that make her who she is. That's what he loves the most about her. 'At my most beautiful, I count your eyelashes secretly, etc...' For him, he feels the best about himself when he's with her. She doesn't have to be awake, they don't have to be sharing this grand 'moment' or whatever...just as long as they're together. So sweet...T_T *cries* |

| Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Ah, c'mon guys...T_T The question isn't 'who can hate/love fall out boy the most', it's 'what does the song mean to you'? I don't care if you want to say you hate them/love them, just provide something insightful while you're at it -_-; "Tonight it's 'it can't get much worse' versus 'no one should ever feel like'"...I think he's stuck between two emotions in this part. He's upset--it can't get much worse--and he's mad--this shouldn't be happening. I don't think he's really sure whether to be mad or just sad...but at the same time, this song changes courses like, eleventy million times XD It's really hard to analyze this because he changes courses so many times, y'know? -_-; Y'know...it's so weird that someone mentioned Zelda, because I was playing that the other day and I was singing that line when I died =0 You guys are flipping awesome! Way to read my mind (or be standing outside my window, whatever XD) On a completely unrelated note, I think this is the only fall out boy song I like...-_-; Oh! And back on page 4 or something like that, someone (can't remember who) posted like, an entire stanza I'd never heard... |

| HIM – Under The Rose Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Okay, so you like it and you know what he meant...but what do you think about it? =0 ANYWAYS...why does he say 'Burning in Water and Drowning in Flame'. I mean, y'know, it's kind of backwards! I just want to know why it was reversed...confusion? I like that line a lot, that's why I'm wondering ^^ So the winter in his heart turned to spring...and he went from being cold to open to love again. I like how he says 'the ice gave way under his feet'...is this just another reference to falling in love? Or maybe he admits that it can be dangerous to care about someone, but in the second verse (the sigh of relief) he knows its worth it? The chorus...after the two 'separated' he tried to make her not like him, it seemed, because he was convinced he didn't like her. BUT he realized that she did matter to him, and admitted defeat ^^ How cute. Wish life was like that >. |

| Dashboard Confessional – This Ruined Puzzle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I was kind of surprised that everyone thought the relationship had never happened. To me, this is all about looking back on the end of it. A puzzle that's face down is obviously a lot harder to put together, and the fact that its all beige just shows that life is mundane without the girl in his life. It's supposed to be a pretty picture, but instead his entire life is reversed. It was supposed to be a 'picture', so to speak, of them together...but now it's the absolute complete opposite. No colour, them apart... The hours creep, patterns repeat--Time goes slowly without her there, sadness keeps going on... The don't be concerned part...I think he cares about her so much that he doesn't want her to worry about them, even though he doesn't feel fine on his own. I think he knows he will be, eventually, but that doesn't stop you from feeling sad...and when you really care about them, you don't want them to worry about you being sad... I never said don't go, don't go--Maybe he was angry when she broke up, but now that the anger's gone he's realized that he should have tried to keep her with him. He says 'don't go' now, but it's too late... I always took the chorus literally--that he literally put this in one of her books. Of course, it probably has a figurative meaning. What if the story's too dull to unfold? What if she has no desire to open up the part of her life that he was in ever again? He'd never get the girl... I don't have any thoughts on the 'basements a coffin' line yet, but if I do, I'll post them later, alright? ^^ I'm so glad people like this song...it's my favourite DC song ever. I've been listening to it a lot lately... |
