| City and Colour – Save Your Scissors Lyrics | 19 years ago |

well i took this song a little differntly to me it seemed dallas is talking to someone who is jealous of him, or his fame, but he kinda realsises that telling them to shut up will make it worse - "so go on and i will refrain" "maybe next time will be the right time and maybe next time will be your time" i think the scissors are talked about in a simply superficial manner; representing a weapon of passion, and one that is not meant to kill but to scar..not so superficial i suppose "My surface is so tough I don't think the blade will dig in " here the scissors are criticism from eveyone, he is saying that nothing has got in thus fae he can certainly ignore this shit "Save your strength Save your wasted time There's no way that I want you to be left behind" maybe this person is complaining about how much time they have put in, maybe getting into the music "scene" and it hasn't come off. here my argument falls a little because the next line seems to be adressing a women directly, maybe a jealous lover, but it could still just be a friend who hates the fame or something "So why does it always seem That every time I turn around Sombody falls in love with me This has never been my sole intention And I have never claimed to have patents on such inventions " explaining that he never tried to get girls, the next line is kinda sarcastic way of saying, hey i'm not the only one, and its no secret how to get girls thats how i see it anyway |

agreed it seems to be rather tongue in cheek about touring; "hell i have seen america's best" so i reckon its just about how much touring, no matter how much you see, doesn't compare to your home, and the people there. "I never thought you could leave me, I figured I was the one but I understand your sadness so I guess I should just hold my tongue." it seems that touring is affect those at home etc |

| Brand New – Brother's Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I reckon this song is about the iraq war, war in general, but definatly the current war. "And the news keeps us scared" "and the girl that my brother likes is finally talkin' to him, and his chest is all swelled like he's proud and happy, like he's got a great idea," His brother has decided to join the army, hes proud and now the girl is all over him like its cool...hence: "Wake Up" "East swell" refering to the middle east, the swell being disturbence "lying like lions in the sand" - good imperialistic/colonial imagary, lions being kings and the sand again refering to iraq/middle east. the next line is pretty obvious So we make jokes back home, and we lighten the mood, but growing up my parents saw, what sending a kid to fight can really do, but now with the war I can tell they're a little shook up, 'cause just a few mothers sons will never really be enough, not 'til half our names are etched out in the wall, and the other half ruined from the things we saw... this whole chorus talks about vietnam and how his parents saw what happened to the kids sent then, and how its killing them this time, i think the brother has gone, "hence back at home we tell jokes" not until half our names are etched i a wall - any war memorial really, but in the 1st world war battle fields there are whole buildings, 30ft high, just etched in names of those who died. nd the other half ruined from the things we saw - post traumatic stress disorder etc |

OK Listen Up i think you all know why you have been called here on this night Tonight we lay to rest the fueds of the past and ring in a new era of alliance between the five rival gangs (insert gang names) Let them hear in the streets, its time to dance see you in the hospital! nothing to do with the song, but still pretty cool |
