| Bob Dylan – Tangled Up in Blue Lyrics

The verse about the Italian poet is what really intrigued me about this song. A lot of people have heard of Dante Alighieri, and it is likely to be him, but it's wrong to assume that it's about his Divine Comedy (which describes hell, purgatory and heaven for those confused) - he wrote La Vita Nuova ("The New Life") to tell the story of his love for Beatrice Portinari. She is also the symbol of salvation in the end in the Divine Comedy. |

Well I don't know about the rubber being explicitly a reference to rubbers as such... but it's a good song, I'd say it was more just talking about when it gets right down to it (whatever it is). Doesn't sound like Meatloaf & Steinman's style to debase it like that to be honest. It's more about the intensity of his world put in a way we can all identify with, characteristically slightly too close for normal comfort in music which is why he's just sooooooo good. :) |

Can I just add that the maggie's farm comment could be a reference to the Bob Dylan song called that which is along the same lines. |
