Truth is that all the songs on the By The Way album may have what look like references to drugs but, theyre infact metaphors describing a deeper emotion and whatnot. |

A zephyr is a wind and it becomes obvious with the lyrics 'fly on my wind'. Why the hell is it that whenever it comes to posting what you think the song means about a chili peppers song, some stupid idiot always has to put forward that oh its definately about drugs?? Personally I think the references that MAY be to drugs are a metaphor but I can't explain the whole thing it would take a bloody while, I tell ya. |

Highly doubt it was about Cobain or Hillel - unless either of them were crossdressers 'Sitting backstage in a dress'. It wasn't written about Phoenix - Transcending was about him and also the retard who insists that Frusciante sucks needs a taser stuck permenantly to his nipples so that when he breathes, a very nice, very painful surge of elecitricty is passed thru his sensitive organs...muahaha yes yes it's what ur all imagining.

Amazing song - one of he best.
I agree with the player theory and I believe that he actually falls for her as well but doesn't know how to give up his old ways. He knows he's hurting (or going to hurt) this girl somehow and doesn't want to because he's falling for her. |

Gorgeous song. Existentialism is the idealistic view that whatever you do, you are responsible for the actions and for the results. In other words, fate and destiny etc have no say in it. What the song is saying is how life from there on in is in your hands. Something that must not be gambled with and not left upto fate as consequences may arise. The song also mentions a love which says to me that he is singing this song to his *sweetheart* (hehe) about what they should do next and what lies ahead. In short this is a song about how one has so much control over their life. |

Absolutely beautiful song - veru very cute!! I think the whole song is just him expressing his love to someone who may or may not feel the same way - he doesn't know. 'The dark' I think symbolises the subtleness of how he is expressing his love or what have you. He needs to blatantly say he loves her but is finding out ways to that and meanwhile he's just going to let on in a subtle way what she means to him. |

My favourite Ben Lee song of all time!!
I reckon it has something to do with a person he loves using him or being fake towards him. Everyone around him has expressed their will against him and this person yet he still persisted. When finally finding out for himself what she has done to him, he regrets everything and he 'wishes that everyone was wrong' and that she actually didn't do these horrible things to him. That's my 2 cents!! |

Beautiful song, I can't describe it any other way - beautiful. It's about a man losing his faith in humankind and in the world's hatred. The worst part is that he's morphing into just that, what he despises the most. This brings about depression and a hatred towards one's self. Then he finds love and it seems to bring him back from the 'dead' so to speak. He realises he needs to move on with his life after finding this person. He just needs to find the last thing preventing him from moving on - his piece of mind. |

I really don't believe this song is about cheating but hey, whatever it means to you. I personally think that most of us has got is right. It's about a man very much in love with a close friend and expressing it to her, regrettably. Resulting from this is an awkward situation where the woman leaves the friendship as it isn't what she wanted from him. He, however, believes that if he's just persistent and waits for her, she may rethink it although he knows it's doubtful.
Another melodically and lyrically beautiful song by the chili peppers that never ceases to awe inspire. |

What this song seems to define in terms of themes is a failed relationship. It's about him in a relationship (friendship, romantic involvement etc) telling the partner involved his true feelings - love etc - and (let's just say it's a her) she ignores his deeper emotions and doesn't find meaning in them at all. Her disregard for him spilling his guts out is a manifestation of how she has been treated previously under similar circumstances ie: she has been hurt before and cannot take him seriously as her will prohibits it somehow. No matter how hard he tries to get her to see that she is not like that, she continues to perceive him as someone who may hurt her.
