People are focused on getting and spending, not living and learning. Life is no longer a journey, but its a race to see who can get to their destination first with the most money, etc.

i think "blister" is a song about war from a soldiers perspective. The person in this song is being forced into combat, but they feel as though they cannot protest and refuse to fight because it is their patriotic duty- "no one listens, but im ok with it." "patrolling for enemies" "im waited for, they're at my door". The soldier is basically divulging their inner thoughts on war and fighting, he is scared, cold, and lonely- but he promises to return "but i'll be back again"

This is a song about fatherhood. Raine recently became a father of two boys, and i think "boy" was a song written for them. "boy" is a beautiful song off of HIPT. This song serves as a form of comfort, but also as a warning. Raine warns his boys that life can be mean, brutal, and exhausting, however he also attempts to comfort them by saying that he will always be there for them no matter what happens- "Ill be there to pick you up and dust you off and make you feel loved" I love this song, it's absolutely beautiful song about unconditional love.

I recently saw OLP live while they were touring in Ottawa. Raine composed a brief into to this song stating how 'BRING BACK THE SUN" is about a man who had an affair. Raine said that this song is about a man who realizes that the grass isnt always greener on the other side. "mystery is gone, so bring back the sun," means that he is sorry, and he realizes that what he had with his current partner was good, and how he wants her back.

i think "all for you" is a song that raine wrote about his father. This song is about wanting someone there to lean on and depend on. It sounds as though raine and his father had a rocky relationship, and that his father constantly abandoned him on several occasions. The line "you're the blood, im the seed, and its all that i need" infers that this song is infact about his father. Raine also writes "broken families a new enemy, and you will not make up for this" states how hurt raine is, and how his father cant make up for lost time. The above is also supported when raine says "its all for you, just stop breaking my heart." This line means that raine is weakened by his fathers negligence, and how he cant take anymore disappointment.

Clumsy is a brilliant song with a much deeper meaning. Clumsy is about having more compassion for people, especially those close to you. The song is about someone is struggling to maintain inner peace. They need help, but wont get it because this person is pretending that everything is ok. The line "i'll be waving my hand watching you drown, watching you scream" is about taking a deeper look. Someone who only quickly glimpses at some one drowning may see the invidual as simply waving. The person in this song simply waves back, because he or she doesnt care to look closely and see that this person is infact drowing and reaching out for help. Clumsy is a song that begs us to look below the surface of things.
