I'm pretty sure this song is just about having a crush on someone and fantasizing about it unrealistically. funny little frog in his throat is just the feeling he gets when he talks to her in real life because he's so involved with her in his own head. thats the literal meaning at least - i dont see too much depth in this song. i cant really see the autobiographical meaning but i dont think anyone is stupid for thinking that. songs can mean different things to different people - that is a sign of a great songwriter. |

ok i love bright eyes and all but the writing in this song is horrible, unless theres some deep underlying message here. i;m almost positive that if any mainstream band put this out that most of the ppl here would be dissing the quality of writing. its as if ppl here look at him like a god and that anything that he produces must be brilliant. i wouldnt be surprised if conor is testing his reputation as an excellent writer. haha this song also reminded me of that hit song blue by eiffel 65 about 5 years ago. i dont remember that song getting this kind of praise for its writing. |

this song is really sad if its about someone who hangs out with a bunch a people that dont like him. "there's a look in the faces tonight that's untrustable as the hope that you'll never return in a while." sleeping soundly: the back of the car felt more like a home than i would ever have thought. and through the evening the engine kept on until we hit chicago and decided to stop. does anyone know what he is talking about here? i get the feeling that gibbard is talking about a specific event or a specific someone but i dont know what or who. i also dont see how this song fits into the flow with the rest of the album. still one of my fav songs though |

in response to "letmesaveyou" this song is about a man that finds his lover cheating on him. she tries to apologize but he knows she doesnt really mean it. in response to "tchymt" that line means that he wont easily get over what she did to him, and hes going to be very bitter to her. i dont understand the last 3 lines though. maybe thats when he catches her in the act? who knows, maybe gibbard meant something completely different. this is what it means to me though |

i've heard that this cd is supposed to be all about one relationship i try to piece the songs together and it doesnt make too much sense. each song in and of itself is still a masterpiece. anyway, i believe this song is about a relationship that is falling apart. talking about "rearranging the furniture" to the way the speaker likes is probably one of the small arguments that they "amplify" to the point of waking their neighbors. |

i love the part about "which muslim souls still can be saved ". otherwise i dont like this song to much bc it just sounds childish. conor's voice is obviously not at its best either. dont get me wrong i do hate bush and i love bright eyes but this song isnt too great besides the reaction it caused. props to jay leno for allowing bright eyes to play it on his show. too bad i missed it |
