Not really important what I think it means. Like REM singer said When a song is released it becomes "Public Domain" (Paraphrased). I do like however the line " I love myself better than you". So many ways to interpret that. I love myself better than you = I love myself better than you love me? I love myself better than you = I love myself better than you? Or maybe it's sexual I love myself better than you = I love myself better than you could/can or even He loves himself better than somebody who should have loved him didn't maybe wife or parents when he was young or at least as he saw it. I'm open to anybody else's interpretation of this line. |

To Royal Hermione Emma, Terry Jacks does the original version and it is about the most depressing song on earth(not that I don't like it. Blink 182 also does a cover of this song using the original lyrics not the Curt altered ones. |

What if taste is him questioning why does he do anything even eat then he says almost sarcasticlly oh yeah i guess it makes me smile as if the effects of the things he does almost because he has to(like eat drink etc..) he has no control over but yet affects him in some way maybe to relate to others or the world or be empathatic. I found it hard it was hard to find oh well whatever nevermind may be a bit criptic but it could also be his secret like in another song " I promise not to sell your' perfume secrets" maybe it refers to enlightenment not be something to be grasped |

I love the line "I just act like I don't remember, Mary acts like she don't care" Bruce certanally has a way with words and capturing a feeling or thought you(I) can't put into words. By the way Bruce and Sting sang this song together with Sting singing the verse and it as very good and remains true to the song. |
